Hubpages or Squidoo who is the best platform to earn money?

Neither is the best.  The best is your own website.

As far as Hubpages vs. Squidoo goes, I think HP will bring you more money because the revenue sharing percentage is higher and the site looks more professional.  Squidoo looks like total amateur hour. As a web surfer, do you really trust a site that has a bunch of cartoon squids all over it?

Well said. Due to current personal problems with Squidoo I'm using HubPages more and more for promotion and earning a little extra scratch. After 2 years of Sqidooing I've earned squat. At least with HubPages I earn a few bucks each month.

I did a lot of research on the different writing sites, as I am sure other people did before joining Hubpages. It seemed like the majority of people were more happy with their ability to earn money on Hubpages.
Squiddo got good reviews in usability and seemed to be more recognizable to the public.  However, since joining Hubpages, I have noticed Hubpages becoming much more popular and recognizable while Sqidoo has been slipping.

Ultimately it  depends on writing quality and unique content that can get high placement on search engine results

If you look at the two sites on Quantcast,  Squidoo outranks HubPages in terms of audience and has survived Panda/Penguin more robustly.

Exactly, Squidoo's Alexa rank is lower that Hubpages so that previous has much more traffic. Squidoo has lot of module options to create beautiful lenses. Moreover, it is a good platform for affiliate product promotion.

Squidoo and HubPages are similar enough in how they operate you'll find people who are going to say one or the other is better.  In reality, they are about equal but based on what and how you write, you might find one does better for you overall or one does better for certain topics.

There is also a group of writers who use both sites who feel you get the best results from having writing on both of them.
