Is there any way to tell if a particular hub has received any thumbs up or thumbs down, and if so, how many? I've been here long enough, I should know these things. But I don't.
There was, once upon a time. Now, no longer. Probably no bad thing. Better we remain ignorant. I'd imagine we'd develop weird insecurities about why an individual may have flagged a hub down
frog - whether we develop weird insecurities is personal. i mean if i want to hate myself, i could always find a reason. i guess you are right, though, you'd wonder who thumbed you down and then just blame it on politics or personal BS.
personally, i feel that people should be forced to leave their reasons and justifications when they rate down someone's hub, as well as their name, profile and IP address, just like when they leave comments. they do have to, to some extent, to the Hub Team, but they should be forced to fully justify it PUBLICLY when they rate down a person's hub. furthermore, only verified uses (instead of unverified uses who are notorious for leaving nasty comments and spam on people's legit hubs) should not have the capability of rating a hub up or down.
i think there are some who abuse the system and just rate down the hubs of people they simply don't like for one reason or another, and they do it because they know they can hide and not be exposed, which should not be an option.
I think that very few people rate hubs. In fact, I'm yet to discover a website where there is a system in place to rate content and it plays an important role.
I know I always try to give props to a hub I like with a positive rating. I imagine it helps the overall score.
I do not know if it makes a difference score wise, but if I like a hub I give it a positive rating. Conversely, if I do not care for the quality of the content...I often keep my mouth shut, as I am sure someone will point it out soon enough.
That's the same thing I do exactly.
If I like it, I know I like it so I vote it up.
If I don't like it, I may just be having a bad day or maybe I didn't read the Hub right.
I can live without those stats, the thumbs down would put me in a tizzy if I knew those stats LOL
i do too, especially if they are exceptional hubs. even if i don't like a hub i never rate it down. of course if it was a horrible hub about killing puppies or something then i would.
I try to always make sure that I leave a thumbs up for a hub that I really like, or one that is very well written, even if I do not agree with the presentation of the topic. But, I feel like I should occasionally add a thumbs down for a very bad hub and some are really bad.
Then, you have to wonder if people play a vindictive game with the thumbs down. You could really go nuts with that sort of behavior.
A good reason for why we do not have access to that information...
Delores, unfortunately, I don't think you are to far off the mark with the vindictive game. Maybe that is why we don't see those stats - then again, if thumbs down are repeatedly done by one person over and over to another, you'd hope the Hub team would figure that one out & fix it.
I do my best to always hit UP whenever I read an article but at times I do forget. Sorry! but I have always wondered that too. It's weird not knowing if a hub was rated down or up.
when I'm reading hubs, I try to remember to leave a thumbs up if it is well written and you can tell someone put a lot of work into it. I don't often rate a hub thumbs down unless it is obviously not up to hub standards, which HP does want the community to do if a hub is not up to par; although some people just don't read the rules or guidelines first and that could possibly be avoided.
I'm sure there are plenty of vendictive hubbers out to thumbs down certain hubs for whatever reasons, but, then again, there are many more who use the rating system as they should. If hubbers could see who rated their hub down, it may keep those few vendictive hubbers at bay, but it may also deter other hubbers from using it as well.
IMO the rating system is a great part of the site. I always rate up a great hub. I think I've only done a thumbs down maybe twice. ever. I guess it's just one of those things that we'll have to trust other hubbers are mature enough to do the right thing. Scary thought, I know!
I am finding more and more hubs are deleting their comments capsules in order to force a vote. Given there is no other means of saying you were there. I know a lot of people forget to 'thumbs' it but I personally really enjoy comments and any feedback on my work, so I'll pick comments over thumbs, if any of that made sense
Does anyone know if the thumbs up or comments have different values when it comes to hubscore?
" Why? Why? Seriously why? Could you be a little bit more constructive with you criticism please?"

I was just wondering, if you read a well written hub but it was something controversial that had a different opinion than you had, would you rate it thumbs down because of that or would you rate it on the hub itself ( written well, lots of information, good layout?)Just wondering because I write...

Often, we'll be reading Hubs to find a specific answer or solution to something in our lives. And often, we'll get to the end and be "too busy" to rate it. This is understandable; I do it too. Even though I know that by giving a Hub a Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down, I will be...

I recently wrote a hub on this and have gotten some good responses from it. I was wondering, does anyone have any sort of method that they use for writing comments for hubs? Do you just write comments on hubs that you like? Do you comment on all the hubs that you read? Do you also give a...

I have a question about the blue thumbs on Hubs. If I click on the thumbs up, I also can click on the reasons i.e.; interesting, funny, beautifu, awesome, etc. What happens if I read a lens and feel it should be reported for some sort of abuse? Do I give it a thumbs down, and if so, does the writer...

Is it possible for Hubtivity to show who gave a hub a thumbs up. This question came up in my hub "Why I Don't Always Comment, Even When I Loved Your Hub". JamaGenee made the comment, and I agree 100%, that it would be very beneficial to hubbers to see this. People don't...

Do you give other hubs a "thumbs down" vote?I've never voted a "thumbs down" on any hub, regardless of errors or the tone and nature of an article. If a hub is filled with errors or it is politically charged and I disagree, I may respond, but I do not vote it down. Am I shirking...
