Has anyone had their advertising turned off by automatic filters?

The advertising on my exclusive titled hub has been turned off. I am assuming it is because the article is about how to help a person who Cuts or self injures. Any one have this happen to them?

My advertising was turned of on a hub I wrote about child abuse. It was said not to be  in keeping with the desirers of the partners of HP.

Thanks Ghaelach, child abuse is a sensitive subject also, it is a shame though that people are censored for thoughtful articles on these subjects. So they never turned it back on?

Published on 01-21-12 and edited twice, but still no advertising.

Since I'm here just for fun, I really don't pay any attention to if the advertising is turned off or not. However since the option is now available on questions, I've been disabling all of the advertising myself when I ask a question. It keeps everything so much simpler. Keep on hubbing  smile

Thanks Goody, I was just concerned that it would affect my status on hubpages.

I wrote an article about America's fear of sex and nudity and you can bet they disabled the ads on that one pretty quick. I like to think it's a perfectly legitimate article, but because I said a lot of 'red flag' words, there was no way it was ever going to get approved. Though, I do think it's funny, because they proved my point that the mainstream is terrified of discussing the subject.

Hey MT, how ironic was that? I guess they did prove your point, LOL! Great answer and thanks for the laugh and the restoration in the strength of the written word! Write On!

Yes, I have eHealer. The reason is the agreement between the business entities regarding their separate Terms of Service. You will have to take a peek at the Learning Center or write a courteous email to hubpages. Their staff members answered that question for me with a hub I have. I felt it was more important to get the message out in an non-commercial manner after reviewing the business entities TOS I had access to - Ebay & Amazon. Since the Google and Choice ads are randomly selected advertisers I presume the TOS for Google Adsense and Hubpages Program would the source for those.

To make a hub non-commercial follow these steps:

Click on Edit -> click on settings at the right below where it says Convert to Video -> deselect the box This Hub May Be Considered Commercial -> and then set the Ad level to None.

I don't remember the guideline criteria for that regarding links to profit orientated businesses and such. The learning center probably has that answer.

Let us know how it turns out
Great article by the way. I hope to go back and comment, but I am in a writing mood, so I am not commenting being afraid I will wander being stuck in 'theta' now.

Thanks Tsmog, I will leave it up regardless of the outcome, I just wanted to get others input on the hub. Thank you so much, as usual, you always answer my questions so thoughtfully and thoroughly, I appreciate your help Tsmog.

Yes, I have a Hub right now about child abuse that the advertising has been disallowed. It went for months with advertising and then one day I had a message that the ads would no longer be excepted.

That's interesting, maybe a comment contained a word or phrase that triggered the last final straw! Lol. Thanks  for your help J.

Yep on my Anorexia Nervosa hub the ads were turned off but only after I did some minor tweaking. When I orginally posted it it slid past the filters I guess. Either way I sent them an email and they explained it to me as they are a small team and the must have filters of some sort to keep Hubpages integrity. They did however turn the ads back on and mentioned that should I ever "tweak" that hub again most likely the same thing will happen again......they mentioned I could then write them again and they will turn them back on manually.

No more tweaking that article for me for a while it's a PITA.

Thanks Rfordin, It will be interesting to see what happens, I wonder if they will turn it back on or banish it forever. It's about Cutting and how to help a person with the disorder. We shall see. Thanks for commenting!

Several of my sex-related Hubs have had advertising turned off, even though they're written from a clinical and advice point of view.  Ironically, they also tend to get the most views!

Hello BobbyandBeans, I guess adsense isn't ready for prime time yet, and it figures they would get more views! Thanks for your post!
