Pop up ads on HubPages?
I've pretty much got my laptop locked down and protected against spyware, malware and other assorted goodies, but I just got a pop-up ad on my own HubPages profile. It was for a survey and I clicked to take it because I thought it might be site-related, then I found out it was about chewing gum. What? Am I the only one seeing this?
I have yet to see anything like that on any of my pages, but this is quite concerning....hmmm.
may be it is possible that recently you have download some software or update your any program and with that some pop up was downloaded.
just check it and if it is than uninstall it.
This may or may not be related but might be useful nonetheless. When downloading IE to Google Chrome all these links to different places showed up all over my HP text. Click one and a pop-up ad appeared for whatever. The way to get them off is to go to tools and check add-ons, sure enough there was the culprit that snuck in during the apps part of downloading GC.

What would I do? I accidentally clicked one of the ads when I was editing something. I did not clicked in intentionally.

On another website I had given a person there the title of one of my PetHelpful articles and this is part of her response to me:It was a bit hard to read, though, because of the flashing ads and all the pop-ups blocking it out. If I hadn't had you recommend it, I think I'd have moved on. She...

I just clicked one of my own ads by accident. Has anyone ever done this? Do you know if I will get an instant ban or is there a degree of tolerance to this? Surely it happens occasionally to many people. Am a bit worried about it. Thanks.

I must have missed an announcement, but I have noticed a section down the right side of my hubs (as well as other hubs) and along the bottom called "related ads". I haven't clicked on them as that is a no-no, but am curious what they bring up. There also seem to be a lot more...
