Why is Hubpages suddenly only paying me half as much as they used to?

Up until this month, I have been consistently making a dollar a day on hubpages.  However, every day this entire month I have suddenly only been making around half of that -- even though my views have been slightly higher in count per day.

    Why is this?

I have been considering writing more articles, but there's no way I am going to do that until I understand what caused this.

This is the second time it happened. A couple of months ago, my payments were cut in half. They went half down again for a few days. But now they are back up. The first time was because of an agreement change between Hubpages and google. Now, I'm not sure of what it is.

Mine have been down for 26 days and still haven't showed any sign of returning.

That happened to me too. Took me a few months before I doubled the profits again. But still not to what it was. I'm not sure what it is.

There's no contact between the Google Search team and HP, so there are no agreements to be made. That's a myth floating around HP, that management has talks with Google Search. HP only has contact with Adsense because they are a premium publisher.

Is hubpages embezzling our portion of the money?

I think its more likely Adsense?Google involved with dodgey stuff here with the reems and reems of stuff I have read, I put the question Are Adsense putting the screws on hubpages to force eventual closure? I wldn't be surprised you know save yr hubs

My earnings have been down as well. I was making close to a dollar a day; too and could always count on a payout every other month. Now it's half that, and I've only accumulated $11 so far this month..

My page views are down as well. This has been going on for a couple of months on my hubs. The CPM used to be between $5 and $6. Now it's down to between $3 and $4. I've stopped counting on HubPages as an income source. I used to track my earnings consistently; now I don't even bother. Not sure if it's worth it any more. I think the Penguin and Panda algorithm updates continue to impact HubPages negatively. I'm not 100% sure, but that's my guess.

It's great to hear from you. :]

I wonder if Google did another lame Panda update or something.  Anyways, I signed up for WebAnswers yesterday.  Going to put in 30 high quality fitness-related answers per day, as that's my area of expertise.

Google is continuously updating the Panda algorithm, about every 4 weeks, I read. Good luck with WebAnswers. I'm done with revenue sharing sites; focusing on my blog.

Either the cost per million impressions (CPM) has decreased, or HP is simply paying out less.  Since they only provide us with aggregate figures, we can never really know for sure if they are cheating us, or if the situation is beyond their control.

I've been reposting my articles to Infobarrel where the monthly earnings are better, at least in my experience. Others have been taking their HP articles down and putting them on Wizzley, Squidoo, their own sites, etc.

Thanks for the heads up.  How much better does InfoBarrell pay than Hubpages?  I might move all of my articles over to that site.

All these questions people here are asking are vitaly important, and we should all pose them directly to hubpages and Adsense./Google if poss.
If hubpage management say its beyond them, and are basically 'beholden toAdsense, then more &more folk wil

I started WebAnswers 2 weeks ago and just yesterday I made $4.60 in one day.  I highly recommend making the switch.  They're a lot more generous over there and it's a lot less time consuming.

I've been reading all these interesting coments below and find them  very important although disheartening.Surley hubpage management ,and Adsense have got to improve this dire situation soon, otherwise their reputations will continually spiral downwards and people will start leaving in droves..I am thinking of leaving hupages even tthough I only been here about two weeks ,yet I have 25 followers and 12 hubs...

Indeed.  I started using WebAnswers three days ago and I am already making twice as much per day that I am making after writing 100 or so hubs for hubpages.
