What is the proper way to reference images?
I've seen some people on Hubpages, especially those with apprenticeship alums, use some strange referencing system, and I'd appreciate it if anyone could tell me how to do it?
If you cannot use your own photos and images, HubPages Tutorial recommends public domain images through Wikipedia, Flickr, Pixabay, Wikimedia Commons, and Morguefile. When you call up the photo capsule, you click edit and choose the photo that you have downloaded onto your computer (I usually use my desktop because it's easy to find). In the "Source" section, you put the photographer's or artist's name followed by "via (whatever--Wikipedia, Flickr, etc)" then a comma and the attribution license: CC BY or BY-SA. CC BY-NC is for noncommercical use, so is generally not used on HubPages. There is an exercise to familiarize you with the attribution abbreviations in the tutorial. I'm not sure what the 2.0 or other number means after the abbreviation. Take one step at a time and just do your best as you progress with your hubbing experience. Ideally you'll get to the point where you just be using your own photos and only have to use the worldweb web occasionally for an image. Good luck and happy hubbing!
