Has anyone stopped writing new articles because their earnings have dropped?
I am feeling reluctant to write anything new because my earnings have dropped so much in the last two or three weeks. I was getting over $2 per day and now I'm lucky to get $0.50. I am questioning whether it is worth the effort because it does take effort to produce a good hub. All my hubs are featured so I can't see why this is happening. This is the first time this has happened to this extent and for such a long time. Previously my earnings have dropped by about 25% for a few days and then picked up again. This time that isn't happening.
I've never made any $$ from writing on this site. I just do it as a hobby and stopped sweating the money angle a looooong time ago.
I started on another platform, Squidoo, have seen 3 payouts, and the last one, my earnings dropped 50 percent. Traffic and earnings seem to be dropping everywhere.
Maybe your hubs have dropped on search engines (Google). If you´re getting less traffic from Google, that´s the reason why your earnings have dropped.
It all comes down to traffic and what you are writing about. In the case of this domain, it has no center focus of attention, so others domains which are tailored to a given subject are going to be likely to score better in results. Also, think about what people search for online. If no one is searching for the topic you write about, you probably have some serious problems on your hands. I write about a lot of things myself, and I can tell you from experience that content that is technology related tends to get searched for the most. If I write an article about social media or daft punk, the page can viewed several hundred times just on social networks alone. When I wrote an article about Syria on one of my sites, it only got viewed only a few times.
If I were to compare the average amount of viewers for one of my articles I write for hubpages vs. the articles I write for my own websites, My sites traffic beats out hubpages exponentially. Something to think about.
It all depends on whether you write for the money or you write because you love to write. My earnings from my own personal websites have dropped from more than US$10 to less than US$1 a day lately but I'm still writing. (Reason for the drop is because the general elections in my country is over.)
Honestly, if it's the money that you want, you might as well do something else. US$2 a day ain't much either. I used to tell my mum that's it's more lucrative to stand by the roadside with an empty Milo tin in my hand.
I am currently unemployed so every little money helps. It is disappointing when this happens especially when you've done nothing to cause it.
Sue, trying to earn money from AdSense is like looking for money in the wrong places. I've stopped hoping to earn much from AdSense. Maybe you should try the sales line where they pay on commission basis (but not MLM).
I sympathise with you. If you're creating good quality hubs which take hours to compile and then you get no traffic - you're bound to get deflated and frustrated. Even more so if the same hubs have previously earned more money.
I think you should try and find out if your articles are being copied - some of my traffic has gone down due to plagiarism.
You could tweak them for SEO if you're that way inclined.
You can try to alter your hub design? Fewer words/ more words....different images and so on.
Writing online is a strange business sometimes. Up, down, all over the place. Luckily I don't need the money so writing for me is more of a therapy!! I'm just going to continue, plodding on, and perhaps in a year or two when I've hundreds of hubs, take a break!
You can't be serious? Even if they paid at the same rate as they did when you were happy, writing here for money is quite a joke.
If I were to write for income, I would have never got involved, slave labor is not my cup of tea...
I have experimented with tweaking in the past and all it did was bring problems. I won't be doing that again unless I absolutely have to.
I don't pay a lot of attention to my earnings. I do LOOK at the numbers every day or three, and might SNARL or SMILE depending on the ups or downs, but it does NOT affect my writing production. I just keep slinging them out there, throwing mud up on the wall to see what sticks.
The titles must be catchy to get your readers, traffic has lots to with how one earns online, right now traffic is up and down so earnings are slow for most of us here

My daily earnings have dropped drastically -- WHY? Is it because HP has pulled ads on my hubs due to the "unfeatured" hubs, which are mostly poems? Are poems not worthy of being featured and...

Will they still be allowed to continue writing for the niche sites or will this site be diluted as our best writers and their work leave for a better deal?
