WTF!! Xomba account blocked.....

   Funny you should show up here Ultimate Hubber.  While doing some digging into older Xomblurbs last night, I ran across one linking to your "natural hair loss remedies" Hub Small world.  I looked through so many, I can't remember if yours was still dofollow or not.
   
   As of this morning, the two new Xomblurbs I put up yesterday are still "dofollow", yet the seven older ones are still all "nofollow".  At least at this point I can deduce that my account isn't flagged or anything.

      I am not sure. I checked just one of my articles and it was a dofollow so I assumed all of my articles will be a dofollow. Better check a few more out.
      
      They also blocked my account for copying a phrase from the article I was linking to into my Xomblurb but it was restored within about 24 hours. I believe they do the blocking thing to deal with spam and once they find out we are not there to spam the site and will follow the TOS, they restore the account. Maybe they will find a better way of dealing with spam.

   I checked my few links (xomblurbs) on Xomba, The ones made a month ago have changed from dofollow to nofollow. They were originally dofollow as I checked the page html code at the time. The link I made yesterday is currently follow. I will monitor this to see if it becomes nofollow in the next few weeks.

   Wow, I got a quick response from Xomba and here's what it says:
   
   "All links on Xomba are made nofollow. The reason for this is so that we can ensure that no one posts links to malicious sites that would hurt the search engine rankings for everyone who uses Xomba. Thank you for your concern and if you have any more questions please let me know."

   The whole xomba thing looks more Owner orientated than community orientated. The removal of Do-follow links is a dangerous step, and since malicious links will damage the page rank of a site with or without the no-follow link (Trust me, this seriously damaged a site which was making me $400 a month) I call bullshit.
   
   There are plenty of other services which can be used instead of Xomba, I see little sense in risking it after seeing teh negative reviews ina  quick google search.

   well the neg reviews that i saw are pretty old, they have had major site overhauls since then.
   
   I can think of 3 hubbers that make a significant return on xomba considering their time investment. In only a month with a max of 20 minutes a day invested, i have broken 100.00, the blurbs hit the top of google very quickly (they wont stay there)..I expect a couple of 100/days w/ xombas help this week.
   
   They are no hubpages! but the returns you can get with a little imagination, adsense research and a half hours time are truly impressive. Be creative and earn

   Everyone who's using, or considering using Xomba should definitely be aware of this.  Personally, I'll still keep posting my blurbs there because the adsense is good so far.

   Thanks for clarifying this Lily Rose. If the adsense is working out well, then I might give it a try. Everything doesn't always have to connect to everything else to be good. If xomba can give good placement in the search engines, then maybe it's a good bet.

   I don't understand that tho coz since the day I joined Xomba my traffic doubled and has now tripled from what it was before I joined. Hav also joined SheToldMe, which may hav added to that traffic too, but still ...

      If you are getting referral traffic from Xomba, whether the links are follow or not wouldn't make much difference.  The no-follow attribute simply tells the search engine crawler not to follow that link.
      
      I have some blurbs over at Xomba, and was only using them as a backlink for SEO purposes.  This business about all links being no-follow seems a bit disingenuous since all of my links are currently followed.  So, apparently they change them after a period of time.  This strikes me as shady, especially after hearing some of the other reports I've heard.
      
      Anyone care to comment on purely posting up content for adsense revenue would they choose Xomba over yousaytoo?  I had chosen Xomba solely because of the backlink, but I may have to rethink my strategy.

    Since I joined Xomba I have had my account there locked (but unlocked within 24 hours) and have had 74 clicks there for a total of under a quarter profit.
    If the links are nofollow and I'm making less than 25 cents off 74 impressions (for 34 Xomblurbs), I really don't think they are worth my time anymore personally. Like some others, I was basically using it for backlinks, the Adsense sharing was just a bonus to me. 
    
    Your mileage may vary of course and I don't mean to condemn Xomba, I'm just saying that in my strategy, they ain't lookin too good. I may give 'em some more time though and see how things shape up. I have been there since November 24 so I may give 'em a month before I decide.
    
    And Like Jeffrey pointed out, I'm hearing too many bad murmurings about their business practices.

       74 clicks at Xomba is a minimum of 35.00 in earnings for me
       
       more likely in the 50.00 range. Adsense is about keywords, if you dont bother doing basic keyword potential research your wasting your time  using any adsense revenue sharing model.
       
       Still its almost impossible to have had 74 clicks equal less than .25, I never even knew you could receive less than .01 per click?

          No...it was 74 views (I guess I incorrectly said impressions), not clicks.
          There have actually been two clicks. 
          
          And yes I do a lot of keyword research.

    If clicks lead to a search list, then they do not generate any revenue unless the searcher clicks on another link.
    
    Fraudulent clicks also do not pay.

    Be wary of the opinions of those who have wrote hubs referring others towards Xomba, it's just possible that those opinions may be biased towards their own financial gain.

       although it may seem unusual sometimes the recommendation stems from a successful interaction, there are thousands of programs that any of us could write about for financial gain, i find its a lot easier to reccomend srevices you have some experience with, it makes the whole writing part easier
       
       i have a pro xomba hub!  with 3 referrals..(woohoo 10% adsense impressions of 3 xomblurbs = unimaginable fortune)
       
       i also own xobba.com (completely undeveloped), so keep telling me what you dislike about xomba, and someday we will take over their niche

          My comment wasn't necessarily targeted towards yourself, but I have noticed that certain individuals have cottoned on to the fact that the HP forums are a rich fishing ground full of those looking to take their first steps into internet marketing etc.  My words were merely intended to serve as a warning that all is not always as it first appears.

    Well thats a lot better! I wonder do you use those high paying keywords in your xomblurb text, in order to target those ads?
    
    the blurbs are pretty easy to control what ads appear
    
    i seem to get the majority of clicks in the first two days..posting a couple of day has proved to earn enough to go out to dinner every two weeks, they dont stay high ranked forever

    Yeah I do, but unfortunately I write about niche things that if I'm lucky have a $1.00 to $2.00 listing on Adsense which of course you don't get all of.
    I just like to write about what I like.
    Strangely though, I have seen higher payout clicks on She Told Me and Snipsly than Xomba, with the same type articles.

    Just ran across this thread and thought I would add a few cents:
    
    1.  Xomba is working for me, but to each his own.  I don't like Squidoo one bit but prefer HubPages.  I prefer Xomba to Shetoldme.  I have a bad taste in my mouth from the eHow sweeps.
    
    2.  I have not had any poor interactions, but if you do, you have every right to be upset.  I have emailed some Hubbers and been ignored also.  As such, I am disappointed with those individuals.  Maybe they were too busy to respond.  Oh well, I move on.
    
    3.  Xomba actually is earning more for me than HubPages.  Of my AdSense earnings, HubPages is 32% and Xomba is 57%.  My traffic is growing there, but declining here.  I don't know why but will continue to pursue what works.  When it stops, I will change strategy.  Granted I will only make about $40 AdSense this month so I am not a big player.
    
    That was all I wanted to mention for now.

    Well, I'm new to HubPages so I can't make a comparison, but I've done well over at Xomba. What I like about them is that you are allowed to use Amazon affiliate links, along with a few other affiliate programs (they don't allow ALL affiliate programs, but you can also try asking if you are unsure about a particular program). There aren't too many sites with good Google placement that allow this, which makes them a pretty good deal, imo.
    
    If you like to review products or services, and can spend some time fine tuning your keywords and finding a good niche, then you can earn nicely.

    my also blocked today, I just joined there for 2 days, i wrote article, in the last article i put my clickbank hoplink, promoting clickbank product. Then today, I receive email inform me that my account is blocked.
    Is putting hoplink is violate the Xomba TOS?

    Xomba used to be a great site - I'd use it to bookmark my articles. But because the TOS tide changed, I'm barred from it. I no longer use it and I'm better off with search engine and social network traffic nowadays.
