Of course you can post on the social media, but when I started out my best results came from becoming an active member of the HubPages community. As people got to know me as a person they started reading my hubs and sharing them, and it grew from there. But it started with me reaching out to other writer, reading their works, and commenting on them regularly.
Try to pump it with high quality back links. A facebook fan page, pinterest account, or twitter. You can also post ezine articles intended entirely for improving your hub's search engine rank. Good luck buddy and have a great day!
