If you delete a story you wrote from another site, is there any way you publish it on HubPages?
I had forgotten that years ago, I tweaked one of my stories to make it work for a fandom and posted it on fanfiction.net. It got several comments and views on HubPages when I put the original version up, but then yesterday I got an email telling me that my Hub had been unpublished because it was on another site. The only thing I can think of is fanfiction.net. If I went into my account and deleted the fan-fiction version, would I be able to republish the Hub or did I unknowingly doom the Hub all those years ago by putting that tweaked story on fanfiction.net?
Yes, you can publish it here - but you need to wait for the page to become de-indexed so it doesn't show up to the machines here as duplicate content. Also, I believe HP wants original content - so if you can tweak the text at all to make the page not a pure copy/paste job, then that would be the thing to do.
I'm not certain Hubpages staff are out and out about having only content original to this site, but I do know similar sites to this one frown on getting pages that were exactly the same previously on another website.
What it SOUNDS LIKE to me is you simply didn't wait long enough from the time you removed your page to when you published it here....it takes a day or more sometimes to become de-indexed from the site where it had previously been.
Thank you very much! Also, do you know if they count works posted on your Facebook page (I've shared several of my poems with my friends) as duplicate content?
I'm sure they do. Hubpages doesn't want something you have here on any other website on the entire world wide web - and their machine will find it if it's somewhere else on the web. You can link on Facebook all you like though. poem shares mitebok

Hello, here's something I've been wondering about for a while.I have a few articles on another site, which has recently announced that it's no longer going to pay international contributors. So I'm thinking it would be a good idea to move a couple of them over to HubPages (where we're...

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't find the answer. If I have written on HubPages am I allowed to publish that hub on another site? I may alter it a little to make it shorter, but it would basically be the same and I'm unsure if this is allowable. Comments, please.
