How many External Links to different websites can I add in one hubpage?

I do not want to add links using the link capsule rather I want to add links in the text. I know that to one website I can add 2 outbound links but can I add more than 2 links overall to different websites.

I think there can be a maximum of three external links to different websites. Also you can't give more than 2 links to the same external website.

Where did you hear this? I have used more than three links and have linked to the same source more than once plenty of times.

That is interesting Kathleen Odenthal. I have experienced some kind of automatic warning, if I point to more than 2 pages on the same domain.

I use four or even five, but half of them are to other hubs.

I'm trying to remember where I read it but I'm drawing a blank right now.  Anyway, I think it goes based on word count.  In other words there are a certain number of links and ads you can place per so many words.  If you have an extremely length hub you can get away with a lot of ads and links

External links aren't a huge help to hubs unless they are to extremely authoratative sources, such as .gov or .edu sites. I avoid links for the most part, unless they provide access to more indepth information than I have provided, but in general 2-3 links per 1000-1200 words is recommended.

Kathleen gave the general recommendation. I would try to limit them to just a few. If you're using them to point to reference material, link to the 2 or 3 best pages for the references. Sundeep mentioned about not having more than 2 links to the same site. That should really be more than two links to the same domain. If you do that, you'll probably get the "overly self-promotional" warning. I've seen people with tons of links and no problems as long as they avoid linking to the same domain more than twice.

    Mark,
I recently published a Hub that has 4, I believe 5, external links in it.
