Why do you have to give your tax information to opt-in for earnings from your hubs?
if you make over $600, it can be taxable, depending on your other income. They have to send you a 1099 form so you can include your earnings with your other income when you file your income taxes. Some more successful hubbers make more than $600 per year.

Because we have to include our income for tax purposes. Yes, we have to pay taxes on our income from the Internet. If income from sites like HP, your own blogs, etc, is the only income you have, then state tax laws vary as to whether or not you have to claim it. Federal almost wants their cut of every penny you make.
