If a hubber's previous username has been permanently banned should they be allowed back as another?

As those of us who've been here for a while will know - there are a number of people banned for behaviour against the TOS, etc. Now, they're not necessarily IP banned, so can come back under another username. And several have - remaining quiet for a time, then becoming more prevalent over time. Should they be allowed to? Or should a ban be a ban be for good? (Eg IP banning)

I have never understood why an IP ban is not used! Seems like it would be easier than having to continuously wade through reports.

No, they shouldn't be allowed to come back under another name.  It defeats the purpose.  I've seen a couple of people who are clearly repeat offenders using different names but I don't expect HP to have to run around keeping track.  They should do an IP ban, would be much easier.

As have I. I've actually watched one of them devolve back into the hubber they were when they were originally banned after being different...similar topic to when banned too. Oh well, HP will figure it out eventually

I'm pretty sure there's one person on here who's on round 3, technically the fourth.

At the very least, I say an IP ban for minimum 6 months. There seem to be times where people are muted in the forums/Q&A when quite literally nothing breaking the TOS was said. I dont know if those kind of bans add up to the final mega ban from the website so I would go with a minimum ban (provided the circumstances) that leads up to a permanent one the second time.

Same here - sure there is at least one on round 3. I agree tho.

Don't worry, they will be banned sooner or later when their TRUE COLORS.....show.  It happens.......EVERY TIME.  Leave them alone.  Just give them enough rope......they ALWAYS hang themselves.  I wouldn't worry about them in the least.   What is in THE DARK always comes......TO LIGHT.   It's really .....FUN.....to watch.  They return under a different name.......then POW, they REVEAL themselves in one way or another........& oopsie.....BANNED yet AGAIN!!!

I suppose it depends on why they were banned- I do not have time to follow or read many topics but if someone is rather negative, I simply ignore it.

I recognise the names, so try and
      Avoid their questions etc.

I can understand your frustration.  There is at least one around who can totally destroy a good respectful discussion:  judgmental, demeaning, little to say that is helpful towards new understanding.  But how does any of this amount to punishable?  When does patience run out of steam?

I dunno. That's probably the problem. But if they've been banned permanently once, then surely it stands they should remain so?
