Now that a Republican is in office in the US, there will be a sudden uptick in reporting on homelessness and poverty and blaming it on the new guy though it has been a problem for years.
Mankind will not perish because of global warming, GMOs, Volcanoes, earthquakes, meteors or plagues. There will be no apocalypse.
A fun thing will happen though. In order to equalize costs of foreign goods our trade negotiators will throw into the mix environmental qualifications. The lower cost of goods and services due to lack of environmental costs will change. Don't care so much about the environment -- just think fair trade. China, Mexico and Korea will take hits as the ramp up to meet Global standards. Japan is already cool - except for those Nuke plants and over fishing. But Japan is going to have to get into step there as their lack of safety measures make energy cheaper for Toyota factories and that is cheating.
Perhaps our Fracking and Pipelines will take a hit also as they just are not all that environmentally cool.
So I am excited because I am not much of a consumer and the increased cost of goods and paying more to have a person who speaks english in customer service is worth it to me. I think globally and buy locally any how.
Here is a problem that will occur because of all that. The danged jobs that Mexico will lose along with substantially less remittance will bump up illegal immigration - that is an absolute factual prediction.

So, the Mayans were wrong. Which doesn't mean that the end isn't near. According to Saint Malachi, anyway. His predictions on the popes have been eerily accurate.Once the current pope is gone, do you think that will herald the end of the Catholic church, the end of the world or simply leave us in...

Will Obama go 2 for 2? Probably not, but possible. Hillary probably, but closer than the experts think.McCain or Mit? Huckabee will make it tighter than most think even though it is NH. McCain & Mit split the top vote, so Huckabee will be a close 3rd.
