Am I profiling? Or is something going on with new followers?
I am seeing numerous new followers with Indian sounding names, with no contributed hubs or profiles who will show up following 5-6 or more topics. One after the other are filling up my feed? Is this some new scheme? DON
I've noticed it too. I've also noticed that many of them are continually asking for "feedback" on supposed hubs they created. Still, a majority of them are clogging up the discussions with general of vague questions. It's possible that it's a scheme; in fact, one thought that came to mind was that there was a large group who posted crappy articles and comments on Bubblews (Yeah, I know people posting crap on Bubblews is not news) in an attempt to get as many clicks and followers on that site (before that site started stiffing its users, they had very generous payouts).
Don't know if they are trying to pull the same stunt here. But, I'm wary of their actions.
I'm seeing a lot of them, too. However, we do have some very nice, legitimate and good writers with Indian sounding names, well, three or four anyway on HP that I follow and respect. There is one new guy in particular though who always poses his questions to reflect the U.S. in a bad light. Something in the style of "do you still beat your wife?" I called him out on one of them, but I don't think I'll bother with him any more.
Just noticed, all of them are following the same 4 categories including Honeymoon Trips and Singles travel. It has to be some kind of scam to direct traffic, I am thinking.

Have you noticed that the high earners on HubPages appear to follow very few writers themselves?Could it be said then, that it is more important to have a following than it is to follow back other writers and Are we spending too much time commenting at the cost of writing new content?

No way for me to know who they were.Have I become unlovable or is HP killing off extinct accounts right and left?

How does someone on hubpages get a large following without writing hubs? When I am hub hopping, I have noticed that there are many people with little or no hubs and they have hundreds of followers. I see that some of them are following many people and I understand the reciprocity factor but I don't...

I just checked my email and saw I had notifications that I had six new followers. I checked all these and found none of them have any hubs and all joined 4 hours ago. All are shown as following between 80 and 150 people. Has anyone else noticed this sudden spike in followers?

Just curious, has anyone noticed their followers constantly fluctuating. I have remained in the 880-883 range despite the fact I'm constantly receiving new followers. I would love to get to 1000 followers before the year is over, but at this rate I never will. I know it doesn't mean very much,...

Did HubPages do away with the share button to my followers or did I over use it?I was sharing the hubs I read with my followers earlier today, but now I can see the button anymore. I was wondering if I over used mine or is this the same for everyone else?
