Email issue

So what's happening is it seems that I have to reply to reader questions using my own personal email. I have been through the settings on my hp account and nothing seems to work. I don't want to NOT respond to people, but it seems like some questions I get are legitimate, but then just turn out to be a way for people to get my email address to spam me. How do I reply to reader emails anonymously?

If you're referring to the new Q&A feature, you reply on the page. They don't get your email address.

If people are contacting you via your profile, then you can change it to no contact in your account and notification settings. If they want to ask a question, they can ask in the comments. I have mine turned on at the moment and already it's driving me mad so I'll probably change it back to no contact.

It's right there: Allow others to contact you. Make sure to untick the box.

No, not the new QA thing I've read the posts on that.

I think that only works for people contacting you through your profile. There is also a "contact the author" button on each page, at the top by the bio. As far as I know there is no way to delete this.
I prefer comments or the Q&A. Do you think this feature can be deleted?

Disabling it in your accounts setting makes that disappear.

How do I do this? That's exactly what I want. Meaning, I would rather they left "comments" on the page instead of contact author. It always ends up that I'm having to reply and they get my personal email address.

Ok. I hope I did it right. I unchecked "allow others to contact you"

theraggededge, Never officially said "Thank you" How rude! So... Thank you! seems to have worked.

Rob - I get quite a few emailed questions and though I can't answer your question directly, I can say I haven't had any issue with being spammed as a result of replying. I get spammed like everyone but I usually know where it came from and it's not here.

That said, the Q&A addition has helped a lot to slow the amount of emailed questions I get which I do like.
