Now AdSense Ad text file error has Troubleshoot button {at bottom of warning and at top next to Action button} and when you click on it it asks if you got the ad text file error message when you answer yes it asks "Do you own any of the sites listed in the alert?"  What do I answer to that? Photo shows what comes up if you answer Yes...If you answer no it says that's great you don't have to do anything but I think when we do site authorization in the first place we're saying we own the site.

Since you do not own the sites I guess you say you do not smile

Also, I doubt you need to do anything at all. This issue is a problem with HP and the niche sites. The ads.txt file is not even blocked by the robots.txt

If you answer No this comes up saying "Make sure only your owned sites are marked as verified"

This is why I think we are having so many problems ... our publisher id numbers are set up to show Direct but it seems to me they should be set up to say Reseller ... see attached photo...

The photo helped me get to the main article, the image you attached unfortunately misled me and I, therefore, had to look it up. If you read the entire post from the start: https://support.google.com/dfp_premium/ … 1288?hl=en you will see that it must be Direct.

HP has set this up perfectly and I am not surprised they are not saying anything about this.

Also, if you read the link above, the ads.txt thing is not mandatory, it is only a suggestion. Therefore, this on its own cannot and will not affect your earnings. I would not bother with this issue anymore unless you are really seeing 0 impressions and earnings from a niche site that was getting you earnings and impressions in the past.

Okay, so here's what I'm thinking perhaps we shouldn't be Verifying our niche sites at all...that's something hubpages does on our behalf? Maybe we should turn off site authorization??

I saw this at my Google Adsend and don't understand it. Can't HP staff help us with this techno mumble jumble?

I don't have time to figure this all out. I am a writer and want to write. I rather spend time trying to edit my current article so it can be featured than opening up a dictionary and learning new nomenclature to solving a technical problem.

Isn't that why we share revenue with HP, so they can handle the technical end?

I know. It's so confusing. According to adsense you're only supposed to Verify sites you own but if you don't verify them then they can't be monetized so you have to claim you own them in order to monetize them?? I don't know.

It’s quite simple really. You need to join the left-handed framas to the twiddlytharp. (If you don’t have a left-handed framas I’d suggest moving to Fort Gary, Indiana and starting you life over). With that accomplished, barbecue the entrails of a raccoon, put on a purple silk robe, and chant “Google is god” for about 57.5 minutes. At least, that’s my take away from the instructions sent out. Please don’t respond; this is a no-reply post.

      I can't respond...I'm laughing too hard and obviously it's all my fault because I can't follow directions and I don't know what I'm doing...{not a response} smile

Rupert, You are so funny.  That is exactly how my mind comprehends this stuff. We all end up in a state of frustration and exhaustion. Did I mention exasperated?

I think we are supposed to do nothing, but I sure would like to hear from HP staff on this one.  It's important to us to know, right?

Yes, I agree. I'm not doing anything unless the hubpages team instructs us to make a change.

Yes, but it is also already clearly explained by Google on the link I provided.

In response to HoneyBB: You are never verifying your website or niche sites on Adsense, you are only authorising. It is suggested that you authorise the niche sites (as I think you have done, or at least had done in the past). Doing this protects your Adsense account from being banned in case someone uses it on a spammy website.

This ads.txt issue is completely unrelated to that. Continue adding sites where your ad code shows up (niche sites in this case), but do not bother about the ads.txt file. That is something for the HP team to take care of (even though right now there is nothing they need to change).

Okay, I will continue adding my niche sites but it does say Verifying not authorizing when I add them and the instructions say to only verify sites you own. LOL  ... Anyhow, I will keep adding them and stop worrying atleast until I get a click and if it shows no money I'll start worrying again.

Yes, they will say only if you own them because once verified (I thought it was authorised) and if it ends up being spammy (read porn, terror) then your account will be immediately terminated.

    Lobo,

I missed something.  If I have a spammy site they will terminate my account. What we are talking about ad.txt has nothing to do with a spammy site, right?

Exactly, I was replyinig to HoneyBB and from what I understood here she was mixing up between this and the option to verify your site on Adsense.
