How can I improve my articles to gain traffic?

I'm fairly new to this, being that I've only been writing about a year and only have about 15 articles. The vast majority of my traffic comes from my MJ and Lebron comparison article. I've also written another sports article that I've webbed to it, but it isn't getting the views I've expected. Same goes for various cooking articles I've posted which get viewed rarely, if at all. Any tips to get people reading my cooking articles? They're my passion but I wont focus on them as much if people never view them anymore.

I have two recommendations, if you haven’t tried them already:
      1) Get a youtube channel and upload your own two-minute cooking videos. Include a link to your article. It’s a bit of work, but it may be worth a try.
      2) Load your stuff into one or several Pinterest boards.

I fully admit I'm not a recipe writer but I can give some general tips:

    1) Use free tools like ubersuggest to find good keywords and attract traffic.
    2) Be sure to caption your images.
    3) Try to create longer (above 1000 words) articles. However, I know this isn't always viable or easy for recipes.

I've also heard recipes can be tricky since there are so many out there; it takes a lot to make one stand out from the crowd. That's not to say they can't gain traffic, just something to be aware of.

One thing that I've found with my recipes that seems to help a bit is to include more than one per article which helps with length plus people are more likely to read something if they can choose from the recipes on the page.  I've also increased length on some single recipes by including a wine pairing with them. Try to think of something that will make your recipe stand out from the others whether it's unique information added for example if it's related to a certain country or region then include info about the location in general or maybe travel info.  If it's related to a particular culture maybe some info on the practices of the culture or when the dish is eaten and why.  Just a few ideas.  Good luck.

Glad to help.  Good luck!  And if you hit on anything that helps your articles - especially your recipe hubs -  be sure to let us know about it.
