    Hi Hubbers,

I'd like some help with passing the Quality Assessment Process. Will you please give feedback on my article Review of Photo Captioning Software (must be signed in to view). What can I do to improve? Thanks!

      Hi Simon
My guess is that you need to reduce the number of external links, as Hubpages deems it too promotional.

Thanks for your comments. A review necessarily contains links to products being reviewed. If HubPages deems this too promotional I'll look for other places to place it. The latest version is described as ' Needing Improvement" without specifying how.

The generic 'needs improvement' emails are a bugbear to us all.

As regards the article, you have included far too many links. If you are unwilling to change this, then yes, you will to find another platform for your work.

There are also a couple of other points that need reviewing. Firstly, it is unclear if you have permission to use the photos, as the source isn't given. I was slightly confused as to why the Batman one was included. Nonetheless, this contains a watermark, which suggests copyright of another site.

You have 2 Amazon links, but don't really give your personal experience of why you are recommending these apps.

The headings are not all in APA style and there were a couple of typographical errors.

If you want to get your article approved, then you should check out the Learning Centre for more guidance. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the time you have taken to expand on the reasons for my review's continued unacceptability.

The lack of personal experience in the recommendations will be addressed, and the rationale for using the Batman image (an example of a meme).

I am unable to locate the typos - a common problem for authors I think.

I am unable to find out what APA (American Psychological Association) heading style is. It would appear I am not alone : https://hubpages.com/community/forum/13 … -question.
A more explicit definition would be helpful -eg Capitalisation rules.

The review article Pimp Your Images - Using Free Online Image Editors by Sniff It Out (updated 2014) contains 21 hyperlinks, including 4 for Amazon products, with Buy buttons included. Mine contains  contains 20. Do links to Amazon sites require special justification?  Why is the Pimp Your Images review with 21 hyperlinks acceptable and mine with 20  not?

Some of the  19 photos in Pimp Your Photos contain watermarks from the products being described. As far as I know, the presence of a watermark does not give any indication of copyright status. None contain any source links for images. How has HubPages determined that there are no copyright issues with these images whereas there are for mine?

Most, but not all, of the images I use were taken by me. Some come from a free stock images site. Some are screen shots of applications loaded with my images. If all the images were taken by me would this meet the copyright restriction issue?

Is addition of a source link for images compulsory rather than optional as stated in the editing screen?

It may be that standards have changed since the Pimp Your Photos review was first posted and updated. The newest appreciative comment is from 4 years ago and the oldest from 9 years ago. If so, advice to consult a recent article as an exemplar might be in order.

Hi, Simon. With respect to the APA heading style rules, I use the page http://blog.apastyle.org/apastyle/2012/ … style.html as a reference. I go down to the section entitled "Here are directions for implementing APA's title case:" and use the information in that section as my guide.

Thanks - why the heading rules can't be made explicit in HubPages guidelines I don't know.

No, a review does not have to contain all of those links. You should take a few minutes and read some other reviews.
A review does also need to contain all of those Amazon links.
