Can't help noticing that the Maven Site have 'Printables'. Lots of people have asked for this over the years.
The printables come from existing sites getting migrated to Maven. Is there a specific feature you're looking for?
I have in the past been asked if it is possible to have a print facility for my Tutorials and I do know that others have been asked for the same for recipes.
All modern browsers already include a print function. There is no need to build it into the site.
You are right but why would MAVEN have printables then? I think it is more a matter of what the person wants to be printed, just a recipe and not everything that goes with it.
Sally, I checked Firefox, Safari and Chrome – they all have print functions that only print the article without the ads. So there is no need for a website to include a print function. It's extra overhead that serves no additional purpose.
By the way, I don't actually see where Maven has a print option. Where do you see that? Are you sure it not your browser's function you're looking at? Paul indicated (above) that some sites have it, but that's not a Maven thing.
I clicked on the link to Maven which was being displayed on at least 7 of my hubs yesterday and across the page on the menu was the word Printables. The joke is that the ad is no longer there. I checked and could not find it again, not on any of the hubs I looked at.. Makes me feel like an idiot. Then I decided to do another check. We were all saying yesterday that when we did a check on Maven we could not find any of our articles. Well, I went to Craft Gossip which I think is a Maven site and blow me down, the hubs which I had mentioned previously were still there.
The word "Printables" must mean something else. Not "print this page". I never saw it, but if you can tell me what channel it's on, I'd be curious to take a look.
EDIT: I just did a Google search of Maven for "Printables" and I found what you are talking about. Those are articles that contain downloadable printable templates, but you still need to use the browser print function to print them. The same would apply to knitting patterns that psycheskinner mentioned.
Browser print functions are crap for things like knitting pattern and templates
Argh! Coloring pages! One of the things that sank Squidoo, along with shower curtains and laptop bags.

One of my commentors asked me how to print the recipe. She's right! We need an easy way that readers can do that!

I wonder if a "printer friendly" option might be possible for recipe hubs. I know it shouldn't be on all hubs, because of copyright problems, but sometimes, we want to try a recipe, but to print it out from the full hub often takes like 7 sheets of paper, including as it does all of...
