The update is very interesting for old Hubbers and motivating for new Hubbers like me. Giving the Hubbers an opportunity to level up their game and be the owner of a vertical site of Maven is really a good platform. What could be the downside to it?

It's only useful if you already have your own site, a ton of traffic and are willing to add content Every. Single. Day.

I say... Yes. Not so much. No.

And I don't think they pay you. The extra revenue is supposed to come via your site and the 'extra exposure'. Hmm.

I'd love to be corrected on that. I might make an effort.

There is still the issue with this part:

By posting any User Contributions on or through the Website, you hereby grant to us, our relevant Channel Partners and our affiliates, licensees and other authorized users, a perpetual, non-exclusive, irrevocable, fully-paid, royalty-free, sub-licensable and transferable (in whole or part) worldwide license to reproduce, publish, translate, use, modify, create derivative works based upon, publicly perform, publicly display, and distribute such User Contributions on and through all media formats now known or hereafter devised (including, without limitation, through the Website or mobile devices), for any and all purposes including, without limitation, promotional, marketing, advertising, trade or commercial purposes. Our use of such User Contributions shall not require any further notice to you and such use shall be without the requirement of any permission from or payment to you or to any other person or entity.

I am unclear as to whether that means someone who just makes a comment about something on there or if it includes everything.

Oh yeah... I forgot about that. That probably applies to HubPages now too hmm

I don't think so.  I think our TOS are still separate and different.

That is correct. Articles on HubPages are subject to our Terms of Use, not Maven's.

          Christy,
          Translation, please.

Does this mean that our NICHE articles, once showing/transferred to Maven, are then THEIR PROPERTY, and we lose our author ownership of our hard work???

That's sure what that convoluted clause sounds like.  If that's the case, I don't like it one little bit.
It would feel like HP sold us all out.

Bummer--and just when I'm FINALLY making payout each month!  It's taken me 8 years to get there; I don't have the energy to start all over at a new site, or try to make a site of my own.  (I don't have the tech savvy, anyhow)!

Our articles aren't being transferred to Maven.  Only the few authors that have already been picked up or will be picked up after then newest application process will have articles on Maven.  And those aren't their HP articles, those are the ones on the separate website they have which is what Maven will be acquiring.  All our articles whether on HP or on Niche sites are still under HP and HP's terms of use.

The pay issue sure needs to be clearer.

I want more information or a visual on what they are proposing. I have a site that is doing well and why would I want to move it to Maven? The old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."  In other words, why change a good thing happening? I am a firm believer of doing what is successful, what is working.

Now, if I had a site that was not doing well and needed something to "perk it up,"  I might apply and work with Maven. That sounds more like a team, working together to make a site even better.  Otherwise. it seems like I am doing all the work or had done all the work. What did Maven do? Parasitic not symbiotic.

I have a site and would only want it added to Maven if they could get my traffic numbers doubled. Otherwise, I just can't see the benefit. Updating every single day is a bit much also.
