This year is my first for success with garden Hubs. It started in March and now toward the end of July I think the season has hit the wall. A big turn down in traffic. Is March thru July the normal gardening season? I was enjoying very much the extra pay.
I hope Halloween kicks in soon.

I write gardening hubs exclusively and also have a website exclusively for herbs.  My traffic always peaks in May, then gradually trails off through the fall.  November, December and January are slowest, then traffic starts to build in February.

        Your Hubs are impressive!

Yup, I think Caren's hubs were the ones that actually inspired me to write gardening hubs here. I assumed it's a niche where you'd stand no chance to rank well. How wrong was I smile

Thank you both!  I'm very flattered.

I have only one gardening article, so I'm not an expert.

But I have a good sized audience of readers in Australia, and notice that article gets attention when it's winter in the Northern Hemisphere, as it's summer there. People garden all over the world. Check your account and see where your traffic is coming from.

Brandon, you have so many great gardening articles. I would think gardeners in other countries must be reading your work?

I do get Aussie readers during their summer, but it's nothing compared to the rest of the world. During the northern hemisphere summer I get a lot of readers from the US, UK, India and a few other countries. But Australia and NZ are probably the only two English speaking countries in the Southern Hemisphere with a decent population size. I get a handful from South Africa too.

Every little bit helps! It's exciting to know such a broad audience enjoys your articles.

I write gardening hubs but the views really fluctuate and so is my earnings. I don't earn much but I do appreciate what I get. I don't think gardening season is over yet, it is just that people are going out more enjoying the summer heat.

The key is one or two high searched for plants to get views from the Internet. Since the draught In So. Calif., 2013-2016, the whole region is going succulents. That is about 25 million people learning new plant types and gardening practices. Interest definitely slacks in the summer months. It's been hot here!

Yes, the gardening season is towards the end. My gardening hubs have lost 50 - 75% of their peak traffic. Still very high compared to the rest of the year, but the season is over sad

These were my best months by far I earned more than 8 times my previous highs during the last 2-3 months (July included). I'm going to find the time to write more gardening hubs for the next season.

Would be cool if I had some winter hubs that shot up like this too, but a few months a year is not bad. HP paid for my trip to Norway and back and more. Feels pretty awesome.

Good luck with Halloween paperfacets and I'm glad you also did really well this season. Next season will be here faster than you know it.

Lobobrandon really glad to hear you're having a good season!

I have several "Caterpillar Identification" hubs that are tied to gardening, and I'm having a banner year with them. Maybe it's the Maven effect?

SERPs for my keywords are about the same as last year, but I'm seeing several times more traffic than last year.

Are you sure the SERPs are the same? It's very likely that you rose for quite a few long tail terms that you do not know about. It's more the HP dengarden and all the niche sites influence than Maven. The increased earnings can be attributed to the Maven merger.

As the niche sites get more articles the websites become stronger in general. And with more high-quality articles, they get even better. The more people write about caterpillars, the better your articles will rank too. It does not have to be written by you.

Cheers to your continued success smile

smile I just re-read what I wrote. Haha the use of language is so bad. I wrote it while I was walking.  I'm happy you could make sense out of it.

I am hoping that I get a slight uptick for my Southwest plant Hubs because fall is a big season for getting back outside in Western U.S. July-August is Western culture's time to cut discretionary spending. The web is used more for shopping and spending than for anything else, don't you think?
Opps, I forgot about "opinions" for a sweet second.

I don't live in the U.S. so I'm not sure about their spending habits. But you could look at last years stats and multiply it by a certain percentage to get a possible future forecast. I did that in March and I saw pretty much exactly what I expected.
