I enjoy responding to readers' questions and find it invigorating. However, a couple times recently I've had readers request my e-mail address so they can ask me longer, more complex questions. Has this happened to you and how do you respond? I'm thinking it isn't a good idea. Thanks for your input.
Until recently there was actually a thing that said "contact author", which allowed a reader to directly email us by using the HP system. The only way they actually GOT your email was if you responded. Now I've noticed it has disappeared.
That still exists unless you opt out of it. I did so because I was tired of getting all of those questions in my email.
?? I'm still getting emails, through HP, from readers. There is a "contact author" link in the little blurb about the author just under the title.
If you want to do that create a separate email address for the purpose and watch out for scams.
I think you are correct to hesitate. Readers can already get our time by leaving a question or comment and do not need an email to do this.
QandA already takes enough time.
There is also the danger of what someone might send your email. SPAM, virus attachments, etc, and of course they could just sell your email so that you can be put on a mailing list. Something that I think we all want to avoid.

I really like the new Q&A feature on individual hubs. What I'd like to know is if there's a way to delete a question if it's inappropriate? For example, I have one now. Let's say the hub is about apple pies, their origin and history, and the question is 'What is apple?' That's just a made up...

Just for a bit of background - I have been writing online for years, and literally have millions of words "out there". Only once did I have an AdSense account, and if I remember correctly, it was for a blog that is rarely used. It still appears, if I right-click on the blog, and view the...

I don't make a lot of Amazon earnings/sales/referrals. I've had perhaps a maximum of 3 since I opened that affiliate account back in 2010.Today, I had to go in and change my email address on Amazon to the current one I gave them by phone, for shipping a return label. (My prior attempt...
