I only write about one article weeking but I've written more than 450 hubs, so I don't expect a huge amount of income.

I seem to get as much traffice now as I did last year, yet the earnings seem to be down over the past few months. Did something change as to how much Hubpages pays?

It may help to do an apples-to-apples comparison of CPMs from February of this year to February of last year. That way, changes in your traffic aren't confusing the issue.

For my account, CPMs in February were down 28% versus the same month a year ago. That's quite a drop.

But January of this year was about the same as January of last year. So they do bounce around a lot.

I would worry about it only if it happens month after month.

My CPMs last year rose each month from January to March. This year they have declined each month.

Jan '18-'19 CPM decline was almost 13%
Feb '18-'19 CPM decline was 27.5%
March '18-'19 CPM decline so far is at 42%

There is a lot of March left so I'm hoping that CPM's will really take off the last half and will average out so that the decline will not be quite that high. Only time will tell. So far it doesn't look like it's going to rise any time soon, as it has been falling since the 1st. My overall earnings are down 18% for March compared to last year during the same time.

The only thing that has saved my overall earnings is my traffic. I'm seeing almost double the traffic I saw last year, so despite my CPMs being so low I am actually earning a bit more with the exception of March (again so far), than I did in Jan & Feb of last year. I also had more Amazon sales this year than I did last year so that has also helped.

Same with me. Traffic is the same and sometimes a bit higher, but earnings have dropped.

My earnings compared to the same month last year are up some.  Traffic is about the same, I think.

But earnings this year compared to the last few months of last year are way (way) down; something that happens every year as we leave the holiday/buying season.

I've been here for 8 years and this year was my third best February in terms of ad-program-only CPM.  2012 and 2018 were better but all the rest were a lot worse.  It's a variable kind of game.

My earnings are up slightly on the same time last year, but the last two months have seen a drop of about 25% on the previous six-month average.

I thank each of you for your input. I just came back to Hubpages about a year ago. I have been one Hubpages for 8-9 years, but due to 2 major surgeries I was gone for abit 3 years. It is just in reason months that I have see the drop. I need to compare views and income as many of you suggested. Thanks to everyone.
