I searched for my name 'Viryabo on Hubpages' yesterday and found that a couple of sites have this same name as their site name, and also have "viryabo-on-hubpages" within their URL. (www firefeedems. com/viryabo-on-hubpages-2 html).
I contacted the site via email immediately and got a tirade of curse words. I didn't relent and gave them a few harsh words and told them I'll dig further to find out if they have stolen content on their site too, and that if they do, they'll be in trouble.
Then one of them took it down immediately and apologised, after much cursing, only for the same site to re-appear on Google this morning.
My questions are:
Is this legal or a violation?
Should I just ignore the issue?
If it is illegal, what steps can I take?
As I didn't find a 'report abuse' on their site, who do I report to?
Your suggestions are appreciated.
You probably won't find a report abuse because they are the owners and even if they had an option, they'd be the ones reading it. I would contact their host and get the site taken down if it has copied content. Look up the forums there are many posts on filing DMCAs.
Thank you.
It is my name VIRYABO AT HUBPAGES that was stolen and their domain name has www. viryabo-on-hubpages .com too. They are not a member of this community so why should they use my name and Hubpages on their website, as a site name?
I know how to file the DMCA but I thought that's restricted to stolen content and not the name

I don't think a you name plus 'at' is enough to be copyrighted to you, and Hubpages is a term owned by someone else.
Okay. Thanks.
But "viryabo" is coined from my name. Moreover, that site appears as #2 after my own "viryabo" on Google. I'm still unsure.
Unless you have a copyright to your name, not much you can do.
It would have to be a trademark which required more than a word--it has to include something like a font. Even Stephen King or JK Rowling cannot copyright a name.
Oh I see. Makes sense, all the cases I have heard of are trademarks and not copyrights.
Thank you Lobobrandon and Psycheskinner.
I think I’ll just let it rest.

Today I received another RED copyright notice on an old hub, "The First Signs of Urticaria" and I followed the link to the alleged site in violation. What I found was an Advertisement (very lengthy) selling a product to get rid of hives. I looked around and couldn't find any evidence that...

I'm concerned about this: "Association Disabled by You or by Google for TOS Violation." I did look at the FAQ regarding this, but I'm not entirely sure of what I did wrong. I will admit that when I signed up I was a little confused concerning the steps to take when you are denied the...

I googled my name yesterday. Five results down is what appears to be my HP URL and link. But then after "Lorra Garrick on HubPages" it says, "How to Make Her Your Girlfriend."Yesterday the link took me to a long advertisement for a book on how men can get any woman they...

I don't understand the reasoning behind penalizing authors for multiple links to the same domain. My Cedar Point hub has been flagged for violations because it repeatedly links to the cedar point website. I have no personal investment in this site at all, but I have a violation warning. The same...

I found out this morning that this site had stolen at least 2 of my hubs. The more I looked, the more I noticed that it appears every single post on the site is a stolen hub, completely copied in most cases (including the authors' names and copyright notes, ironically). I see lots of names of...
