Maven clearly has the money (or the credit) to spend big.

The more I learn about Maven, its acquisitions and the content creators joining its platform, the more I wonder where exactly Hub Pages fits in?  Perhaps HP was acquired just for its technology?  Because hubbers certainly don't fit in with Maven's Big Name strategy.  We are all very small-time content creators.  My apologies if anyone views that last comment as an insult.  It was not meant that way.  I was merely trying to draw a comparison between someone like me who writes my little hubs on gardening and something like The History Channel.

Well, in that context, you should not be comparing yourself with the history channel, but you should compare Dengarden with the History Channel because they have a lot of authors too. But, we are still small fry but not as small as just an individual.

This appears to be positive news. On the other hand, now we have to also worry about the health and wealth of TheStreet.

Where does their downward trending share price fit into all this?

Good morning!  Thanks for posting this.  I want to reassure you that HP does fit into the overall plan.  In my own words, this is how I see the Maven mission:

Maven’s mission is to give media publishers (small, medium, and large) a sustainable business through traffic distribution, managed monetization (ad services), technology/CMS, and other services (e.g., editing, training, etc.)

Our platform is for individual contributors (the HubPages community), medium size publishers (Maven publishers), and large owned and operated sites (History, theStreet, etc).  I think it's important that all of those pieces are included to create a sustainable business.

This acquisition is a big step for Maven, and we're excited about bringing on their fabulous team and seeing where it goes!

Thanks Robin.  That clarifies a lot of things I didn't understand about Maven's business strategy.

Oh good!  I apologize that we haven't been more clear about our mission.  It's been a whirlwind of a year!

Sounds a bit like the Borg but glad it is coming together.

In case anyone has forgotten the Borg's mission statement, it is this:

"We are the Borg. Your biological and technological distinctiveness will be added to our own. Resistance is futile."
