What has become of these forums that over a dozen spam messages have been allowed to linger for 10 + hours?

Well, it is the weekend.  I reported these "posts" this morning, but I didn't expect immediate action because it is Saturday.

It really shouldn't matter. Spammers can't run amok on the weekend. Someone should be minding the store.

Yes, its irritating. Though, maybe it's a weekend thing with no one there to take them down. I assume that you or someone else flagged it? (I will flag it too)

I checked the forum on my phone yesterday morning and saw them, but I was out and didn't have the time to do anything. I was stunned to see them still there hours later. I flagged them at that time.

I reported VinCity Grand Park as a spam generator.

I flagged the one with the luxury suite image two or three days ago and it disappeared. Now it's back. Yes, frustrating how these rascals get past the gatekeeper software that I assume exists.

Over 29 hours and the spam is still here.

Right now it looks like most of the forum is spam. How do you report spam on the forums?

There is a little red "report" link at the bottom of every post, next to reply and permalink.

Unfortunately, flags often seem to go ignored. It doesn't seem like whoever is responsible for the forums has much of an interest in this being a place for writers anymore.

As PaulGoodman67 said, most of our team works Monday through Friday so that they can take a break and enjoy their weekend. We appreciate the flags, as it makes it easier for our mod team to address these problems as quickly as possible upon their return. Thanks for being patient!

I think we all understand and appreciate that staff needs time off. However, not that long ago spam like that would not have been allowed to hang around for three days, even on the weekend.

          It's a really bad look.

Thanks for taking care of it, eventually.

I'm surprised there aren't some sort of algorithms in place that can detect and get rid of spam right away.

I understand that false flags can be generated but a lot of the spam content on here is pretty easy to spot.

We do have automated flags, but as you mentioned, robots aren't perfect. Sometimes they flag perfectly fine content, just because of a single keyword. To be sure that no content is unrightfully deleted, we manually go through the report.

Some spammers launch "attacks" by publishing over 20 posts, so we do appreciate your patience during those times. smile
