Matt please stop the spam! It's insanely too much.

Yes. Someone keeps posting in the forums about how to contact Norton, McAfee, etc. I mean like 49 notifications in whatever category the spammer chooses to hit! Please block  those, Matt!

You can see them all right here: https://hubpages.com/forum/hubpages

I've reported loads today plus some 'followers' intent on self-promotion.

Matt, it's too easy for them to spam. You'll continue to chase spammers until you install a filter to stop them.

Why do you think HP is being targeted so heavily of late, Matt? It's more than annoying. It's junking up my inbox, not to mention using precious space on my hard drive, and taking time out of my day to report the spam and spammers. Can you implement some kind of captcha when newcomers sign in? It seems they're only doing so to throw spam at the walls and hope those of us on the inside will fall prey to their tactics.

This level of it for this many days is new to me after more than a decade of being here. But it's only one part of what creates the desolate and neglected feeling around here.  Plenty of other threads with no staff participation cover the others. You know, the excessive advertising, tanking traffic, loss of the editors who actually interacted with us regularly, etc.

And also those pinned staff posts about Pethelpful and Dengarden could be let go now. Perhaps just leave one there for anyone late to the realisation they have lost access to their work.

          1. bravewarrior profile image83
bravewarriorposted 4 weeks agoin reply to this

Pethelpful and Dengarden were dissolved a couple of months ago, Bev. They now belong to TAG. Writers can only post on the Parade versions of those niche sites if invited or pitches are made and accepted. TAG has been posting jobs on LinkedIn for those sites and others. You have to apply and if accepted, the writer must promise full-time hours, even though the pay is hourly. All has gone to hell in a handbasket since TAG took over HP.

I am in possession of the Collected Works of the late Apollonius the Budgie. A sample of the chapters includes:
    How to transfer CoinSpot crypto into Tanzanian shillings;
    Friar Tuck's phone number to get support for your Robinhood account;
Which is the best digital marketing course in India; and,
    Words for dung in Hindi.
This is obviously a very valuable volume (Apollonius isn't writing any more) so I will entertain five-figure bids, and not in Tanzanian shillings.

It isn't just happening at HubPages. Medium has also been suffering a spate of spam (and scam) attacks, and nothing they implement stops them for long.

    1. Kenna McHugh profile image93

I suspect that Medium, like HP, has a limited budget. Implementing a filter or system to reduce spam requires funding.

Thirteen pages of spam now, some of it new, some of it's been around for two days! I'm guessing the spammers are finding new ways to autogenerate it.

I've been here since the start of 2011 and I've never seen it this extreme.

Can't Trump help? I mean he's fixing everything else in the world or so he thinks.

    Edit: This just in

Trump and HubPages: A Digital Revival

Upon the web where writers dream,
A platform stood with fading gleam.
HubPages once, so proud, so bright,
Now struggled hard to keep the light.

The voices there, both strong and bold,
Their stories rich, their wisdom gold.
Yet shadows crept upon the land,
As traffic dropped and profits ran.

Then, lo! A figure, bold and loud,
With fiery speech and crowds so proud.
Trump arrived, with deals in tow,
To lift HubPages from its woe.

"Believe me, folks, we'll make it great,
    The best online—just you wait!
More clicks, more views, the numbers rise,
A perfect site, the biggest prize!"

He Tweeted links, he made it trend,
Brought HubPages back from near its end.
    From politics to finance tips,
All flourished with his mighty quips.

The platform thrived, the writers cheered,
    A golden age had reappeared.
For love him or despise his name,
He played the boldest online game.

And so, the site stood tall once more,
With viral posts and ads galore.
A lesson learned, both strange and true—
A touch of Trump can change the view.
