"Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be."
    – Abraham Lincoln

When you realize you have everything, the warmth of the sun, the color of the flower, and the song of the bird, you experience that blissful state of being. That is true happiness.

The universe tends to our every desire, the warmth of a friend's hand, the beauty of the stars, the opportunity to exercise our purpose for being.

Abraham, who had to deal with a most critical time in our country's history, had it right.

That is so true.  If a person requires certain things or situations to be happy, happiness will always be just out of reach.  Happiness is an attitude.  The Apostle Paul in the Bible says, in whatsoever you find yourself, be content.  There are always blessings for which to be thankful, a silver lining to every cloud.  In Romans 8 God has promised us that all things work together for good for them that love the Lord.  I guess I will bring this sermon to a close.

I think a key word in the quote is “most.” As long as this word is present, I think it’s a great quote. Many of us do seem to focus on the negatives in life and ignore or give little attention to the positives. The idea of finding and appreciating happiness doesn’t apply to people in dire circumstances that threaten life, but for most of us I think it’s an important one.

Only you can make yourself happy. Even if it is deciding to go to a movie you want to see, it brings you happiness to see the movie. The idea is that you are at cause over your attitude toward life.

Marie, We need to appreciate life more and take responsibility for our outlook on life.
