I am past boot camp with five recipes published but still not sure how I will earn money as several already have ads on them.  I am also getting conflicting editing info on them and I use the 6th addition APA manual I use regularly for school...
Does this site actually make money for the individual?

The good news is that one of your recipes is on Delishably.  The niche sites are where you will make money.  You need to work on getting the rest of your articles on to Delishably.  You can submit 1 article every two weeks.

You need to keep writing because you will need more than 5 recipes to make any serious money.  To get an idea of how many articles you need to generate income, I have written 218 articles.  Bev (theraggededge) has written 174 articles.  To get an idea of the number of recipe articles you need to make money, go to Delishably (https://delishably.com/) and see how many articles those writers have done.

I have two on there now so going to keep practicing with personal recipes for awhile.  When I feel more comfortable with the site, I will move towards other topics.

If you want to earn, you have to produce...a lot!  However, what you produce has to be well put together and must be information that people want or need to have.  It takes a long time to start earning, but some, including me, are doing just that..but...I have almost 5.5 million page views and 162 articles which I am constantly upgrading.  It's a lot of work, but also a labor of love.  You'll do OK, but you will have to be patient.  Good luck.

Thank you!  I also travel as much as possible but never have done the RV thing as of yet, usually planes, trains, and automobiles!

I lived the first 20 years of my adult life traveling for fun/partying and no worry about cost, across the world.  Now, I know how to travel for exploration, not vacation, cheap!  Nice inexpensive Airbnbs have replaced scary hostels as I know from experience.  I may write an article on it as well.  Next big trip Australia/New Zealand, maybe help with some burned Kohala bears smile.  If you like volunteering and know animals, it can also be a tax write off.

If you want to make decent money with HP you'll need to be productive and patient, willing to build up a stock of good quality, useful evergreen articles/recipes over weeks, months, years. Persist and you just might get there.

Thank you, my real love is writing on writing lol.  My mother was an English professor and I am named after Shakespeare's daughter. Also, I plan on writing on mental health issues as that is what I am in grad school for (mainly forensic psych) but recipes were a good way for me to start as it comes easy to me.
        Thanks again!

You can make some money but it takes a massive amount of time and energy, so you have to enjoy the writing process. Along the way, you also have to learn how the search engines work, so that you know what people are searching for and how to cater your work accordingly. It also helps to gain an overview of how internet advertising works, so that you can write articles that attract higher paid adverts.

If you want to write purely for fun, that's fine, but you will be less likely to earn anything significant, unless you are lucky. That's my experience. smile
