I can't remember how many articles and views I had to earn a dollar. I was and still is happy to earn a bit from my articles. Good luck to you.

First, you earn from impressions not views, though they are related. An impression is when someone sees a displayed ad. So, the more views the greater propensity for an impression. A rule of thumb is someone has to be on the article long enough for ads to load. In other words if they click away fast there is no impression.

Then the dollar amount for an impression is determined by the Cost Per Mille. (CPM), which in essence is how much an advertiser pays per 1,000 impressions. Mille means thousand. In other words if the CPM is $2 then when there are 1,000 impressions that is what you earn.

Now, CPM overall varies because advertisers pay at different rates. So, one day it may be $10 overall and the next $1. So, with the $10 it would take less impressions to make $1.

To see your impressions and CPM go to your account page and then go to the earnings page using the link at the top of the page. Then click on the Ad Program Reports link. There you will see impressions, CPM, and earnings.

To relate the views to impressions compare views at account page to impressions for the same time period. After that it is using math to see how many you will need.

Hello Jan! I've never really gone reading the forums daily with an occasional post. I read articles too. I haven't written anything since 2016 and deleted well over 100 unproductive articles. Hoping to start writing this year. Good to see you too! smile

It took a month to earn $2 but more important to me at the time was that it took seven months for me to make payment.  I probably published a hub a month at the time.

Many years ago, in my first month here, I had 173 views and earned about a dollar. I had 4 articles at that time.

For the fun of it, I actually looked all that information up. Turned out to be interesting. I didn't know a lot about writing on the Web back then. Just kind of wrote what I knew and what I liked. And earnings were slow.

I remember I had published 5 articles in my first couple of months, and earned 49p. I don’t remember how many views though. I didn’t even understand anything about views & impressions or whatever, back then big_smile

All my earnings, if I remember well, was only from Google Adsense.

It depends on the number of ads that appear in your articles, how long do your readers stay in your article, and the country where your readers come from.
