I have 136 published articles and my earnings for this month are $1.06, So you had better start scribbling furiously.

so true about SEO.  Reason I do good on my other site are the articles are SEO friendly.  The one on HP are more personal

As long as your goal is like any other New Year Resolutions we normally take (=aspiring but never following), then it does not really matter about the count of articles!

If your fate is like you will be wasting $10,000 worth of your time per month while writing for Hubpages, then you can write probably some 2000 articles and hope to get $100 per month!

I have over 100 hubs and am on about 6.50 this month. I was on about 20 Dollars a month for a while but it dropped a lot.

I have 65 articles on this account and earn more than double that per month.

It's about the amount of traffic to each article, not about the number of articles.

You can earn $100 a month with one hub if you know how. There was one hubber who had a hub that earned $100 a day.

Unfortunately there is no correlation between number of hubs and earnings. No one can say, with certainty, that X amount of hubs will earn you X dollars. It's entirely based on the subject of the hub and how much people are searching for it. Having said that, the more hubs you write, the more likely you are to hit on a popular topic.

It is not about the number of articles but about what your readers are interested in.  On another site I had stopped writing for a while-I think it was 2-3 years.  I noticed that I was still making about $15 a month with 200 articles on performance alone.  Going back to those articles I noticed that the home remedies ones were drawing in the most performance.  I currently had 15-30 articles.  So I figured that if I wanted to make $600-which would be my mortgage and car payment-I would have to write between 600-1200 articles.  So far I wrote about 30 more articles and I made $30.  It will take me a few years, I plan on writing 2-4 articles a week.

A LOT and they would all need to be high traffic generating hubs, and it wouldn't happen quickly. That is a high goal for even experienced writers. This is not a place to make fast cash.
