Hi. I would like to publish many hubs here to help others better understand my religion, which is Wicca (a modern expression of ancient paganism), and this was my first try. It passed QAP no problem, but was rejected for Exemplore as too like a "blog post." Any hints to help me get this through would be much appreciated. Please don't bother me if you're a Christian/Atheist/Whatever and you don't like my religion, etc. I just want writing advice not to get caught up in a theological debate! Thank you.

I took a quick glance at your article and understand exactly what the editors are talking about. HubPages wants articles that are similar to what would be published in a magazine. More professional. More impersonal. More fact oriented. Try adding more third person with only the occasional first person for examples. If you want to write more personally like a blog, try Blogger or Wordpress. Both are free blogging platforms where you can freely write without having to worry about the restrictions imposed here on HubPages.
I'm a Christian but that doesn't matter when it comes to getting your article moved to a niche site, Some of your earlier sections have too many short paragraphs, which might be hindering your article because the grammar might not be seen as good enough by the editors, what else did they say in the email that you need to change before getting your article moved? Emails usually explain what you should fix to have your article moved to a niche site.
I had to fix one of my videogame reviews because it was going to be moved back to Hubpages and the email they sent did explain what I needed to fix and I made changes to the article and it stayed on LevelSkip, the niche videogame site I had my article on.
If you post what they suggested you fix in the email that might help people give you suggestions so you can edit your article and have it moved to a niche site.
Thank you. I'm happy to have advice from a friendly Christian. I respect your religion, I have just been persecuted often by people who say they belong to it. But I know that many Pagans can be unkind, too. I think we all want the good, which is the most important thing.
Okay, so I can combine the short paragraphs into longer ones. I'll check the grammar, too. I do use Grammarly because English isn't actually my first language, but I realize that these programs aren't perfect.
The editors seemed to have copied and pasted a list of things many of which did not seem to apply. But the main comment actually written by the editor (I think) was that it was "too much like a blog post."
Thank you so much for your suggestions! May your god bless you.
I think the fact that you frequently mention "we" or "we Wiccans" may be why you were told that your article was too much like a blog post. There's nothing wrong with your approach, but for a network site some changes and additional information may be needed.
Perhaps you could add facts that could be referenced, such as information about the origin of the customs that you describe or about variations in beliefs in different groups of Wiccans. You could also add information about the clothing facts that you mention. Reducing the number of "we" mentions might also be helpful. The changes may alter the nature of the article, but this is probably necessary in order to get it switched to a network site.
Hello AliciaC,
You are very kind to leave comments. Thank you!
When you say "reference facts" do you mean like in a college essay, a list of books and other articles at the end, or something like that? "The origin of the customs" would fill many books in itself! But, yes, so to show it is not just my idea but something that many people also show and practice?
Yes, there exist many different groups of Wiccans, you are right. But I don't know them all. Gardnerian and Alexandrian are the most well known. Also Dianic. It becomes a lot for one article, though, to explain all this. I thought to write many articles, explaining something in each one.
But I think I understand your point to make it less "like a blog" is to make it less personal to my experience with my clan and more general and "academic" in tone. Is that right? I think I can do that.
Thank you.
Hi, Ponsoo. I would answer "yes" to your questions. I certainly don't think you need to turn the article into a long and heavily academic one with a huge list of references, but I think the changes that you've mentioned in your questions would be worth trying. Good luck.
Thank you. You are kind and helpful. I will make these changes and let you and the other kind commenter know what happens. Thank you!

I know here at HP we are told that adding to and editing our high traffic articles is a good idea from time to time. What I am curious about is if that goes for hubs that have been moved to niche sites as well. If I edit something that has already been snipped and edited by staff and moved over...

Hi,Do more experienced Hubbers have any useful tips for getting your article moved to a niche site? I kept seeing advice that goes something like "make sure you write a high-quality article" but it just seems so vague to me. I have 9 articles now and the only one that was moved to a niche...

Just curious, but does anyone have experience with this? How'd you do it? Did you tell Google the article moved somehow or do anything else fancy? Or did you just copy, paste, delete from HubPages, and wait for Google to catch up?Im guessing there might be some duplicate content penalties from...
