Can some technical person please write a comprehensive Hub on how to use Zoom?

Every dance and fitness teacher on the planet seems to be using Zoom to run online classes, because their studios are closed.  Unfortunately Zoom doesn't work well for fast movements.  There are also real problems with the video lagging behind the music.

There may well be solutions to those problems - if you know how, it might be a Hub that gets good traffic?

There's some hubbub about Zoom being hacked at the moment. Not sure whether it would continue to be used; at least for this month.

I used it once, very briefly for one of the political campaigns going on lately. Curious about learning more too!

Two days back there was a message from one of my relatives that around 9 PM there would be a Zoom video get together between the people at different places. I downloaded the Zoom app in my mobile and installed it with the login formalities. The call came at 9 PM and the app did everything and there were 4 small screens where we were seeing the people sitting in front of their mobile at different places. I connected one earphone chord and listend to others. Only thing I was told was to click on the left downmost point at the screen to on the sound. That is it.

    Hello Marisa, welcome back.

Over thirty members of our distant families spread across the globe joined a Zoom Party to celebrate my daughter's birthday. The experience was a frustrating and incomprehensible mess. Everyone was talking and shouting over each other. When we tried to sing the Happy Birthday song together it was all out of sink. It was like the Tower of Bable!

I don't think anyone knows how to make Zoom work better for larger groups. The technology with its variable range of delays in reception just isn't up to dealing with the different distances between users.

Having said that, in the current circumstances, a Zoom dance class is probably better than no class at all. Watch this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcGqSLQEZgU

I've just done my watercolour painting class on Zoom and it was fine.  It was using the premium paid version, so don't know if this makes a difference?  Hope you can get it sorted Marisa

I've done a couple of these Zoom classes now, and when we're just sitting around chatting, it's fine.

The problem arises when the teacher is demonstrating (e.g. aerobics or dancing) in time to the music.  The music and the video are not always in sync

The problem is lag is inherent in the signal, I don't think any particular interface can correct it for people interacting in real time. You see even the tools used by the mayor networks having that problem.

That's what I was afraid of

I use Zoom a lot these days, despite a well-documented cybersecurity risk, it seems everyone is using it.
When audio and video are relayed at different intervals, several factors contribute to that, including camera resolution, internet speed, and bad network connection and reception. Light and sound waves travel at different speeds, any disturbance on the network connection will cause audio and video to be received at different intervals.
If you are going to use Zoom for dance classes I would recommend getting a high-resolution camera. Rapid dance movements on a low-resolution camera will always lag behind the music even if the network connection is good.
Most front cameras are low resolution, that is why most zoom conversations seem to be lagging all the time.

Wow, don't believe I've ever read such a detailed and pinpoint informed answer on the forums quite like that. You might be the right candidate to write an article on how to use Zoom. lol

        Thanks, Nate,
Unfortunately, I only started using Zoom this year, so I might not be the most qualified for that. The app is still not a complete product, the developers were not expecting this much traffic on their servers, so they are still trying to restructure it to accommodate the demand and improve on their security.
Writing an article about Zoom now might be helpful, but a bit premature.
