Where Do You Place Amazon Ads on Long Articles?

At the bottom after the reader has had a chance to absorb the article? But maybe they never get that far? Is further up better? But doesn't that just annoy them if they've got the additional obstacle of ad program ads to negotiate?

Edit: I mean in text links.

As my Amazon ads are now all text links, I place them where I am naturally referring to the book (or whatever it is). I don't consciously set out to place them anywhere in particular, but I guess it is usually somewhere in the bottom third.

I don't even bother placing Amazon ads anymore.

If I use the ad capsule, it gets snipped. If I use a text link, it gets no results. Eventually I got tired of banging my head against the wall.

I assume that Amazon will suspend or delete my associate account sooner or later due to lack of activity, which is fine. You can't miss what you never had. (shrug)

HP does not use your personal associates account anymore, so it does not really matter now. Your account would be deactivated if there are no sales going through from other sources. It's easy to reactivate though, not that you may want one anytime soon.

Wherever it's most relevant. I only use in-text links. So if I'm talking about the product, I'll place the link in that portion of my article. I try not to place any within the first few hundred words though because it feels so gimmicky and they're not in all of my articles, just the ones where they make sense.

I have given up on Amazon ads in my articles too. They nearly always get snipped.

It's worth persevering but make sure you understand how to use them.

Firstly, the product must be directly related to the main subject of your Hub.

Secondly, you must recommend that specific product, and also say WHY you recommend it.

Say you're writing about blue widgets.  You can't just link to a random blue widget on Amazon.  You must choose a specific blue widget, and tell the reader why you think that's the best blue widget to choose.

I place my Amazon capsules throughout the entire article wherever they make the most sense. I include a lot of content within the capsule, so it flows with the article without looking like an ad. That's mainly because I push the "buy now" button way down below my discussion of the item.

Of course, I do use text links too, but the Amazon capsules work well for me.

That all may change soon. Up until April, Amazon residuals have been half of my income from HubPages. That will be a significant loss if we lose Amazon. As we all know, May sales have been pending with no reporting.

I have the same strategy, and it was doing very well until...

I do the same as Bev and Em Clark on how-to articles. If it were a product-related hub it would depend on what looks right. It is not a good idea to place it at the end because most readers do not get there. You shouldn't be worrying about it competing with the HP ad program ads, because you get these at the bottom of the hub too.

At the moment, Amazon capsules work for me too. I place only one capsule at the bottom of my hub with the hope that some of my readers will read to the end. I am convinced that one who reads to the bottom is most likely to click the ad.
