Videos not showing

Hello, I have a peculiar problem. Whenever I open any of my articles, the videos do not show. All the other items (text, pictures) are fine but the videos. However, if I go to edit the article, the videos appear or if I search for my article on Google, the videos show.
So, why don't the videos show when I open up the article? The problem is that I am not certain if the videos are working or not without getting into the edit mode. Anybody else facing this problem?

I just looked at your "Fastest Semi-Trucks" article and all 12 videos show up and play just fine.

Hello Glenn Stok, see, that's the confusing part. When I open my articles to have a casual look through, none of the videos show. This is true for all my articles under the "Savio Dawson" name. But if I try to edit or try to search through Google and come to the article, the videos show. Now, from you I understand even readers can view the videos (so, that's good news). But why can't I just see it myself?

My other account - Oivas Namok - has no such issues. Confusing.

Anyway, thanks for the help. smile

Maybe if you can give me more information, I might be able to determine your problem.

        • What exactly do you mean when you say you open your articles?
        • Are you talking about viewing them in the hub editor?
        • What browser and version are you using?  What OS. What computer?
        • Do you use the same browser when you search Google?

I asked that last question because you said the videos play when you search for your articles through Google.

I would guess that you are using a different approach when searching vs. when you open your article directly. A different browser for example.

    Hey Glenn,

Thanks for you offer to help. But don't bother yourself too much. If you can identify the issue then great, else it's ok. I am fine if at least the readers are able to see the videos. smile

    • What exactly do you mean when you say you open your articles?

Let me take the example of the article which you viewed - the fastest semis. Here is how I see it when I open the article from "My account" tab

    https://hubstatic.com/15158812_f1024.jpg

    • Are you talking about viewing them in the hub editor?

Yes. I see the article with all details barring the video. If I really have to check the video, then I have to get in the "edit" mode to see the video. That is the odd part.

    • What browser and version are you using?  What OS. What computer?

I am using Brave latest version. (Not sure which one but I updated it a month ago). OS - Windows 10 and using my HP Laptop.

Now, the thing is that my other account, does not exhibit this problem. If I go to Oivas Namok subdomain, I can see the videos of those articles even in hub editor. So, not sure if it could be the OS or computer problem. Anyway, I have shared the details.

    • Do you use the same browser when you search Google?

    Yes.

Okay, a super fast reply. I noticed that the issue is with the Browser.

On Brave my articles are showing with suppressed videos. That is the case even with Google search. Maybe that is the reason. When I opened the article on Google Chrome, it opens without any issues - both through hub editor as well as through search. I think we have narrowed down the issue because of your questions. Hmm... Now, why would Brave suppress my Hubpages videos? smile

    Let me check the settings.

I read your last two responses. I just did some research on the Brave browser since I never hear of it before. It blocks ads and website trackers, and attempts to be more robust with privacy by blocking anything questionable. So that sounds like why it’s also blocking your videos.

Since my questions helped you narrow it down to the browser, you already know the answer. Good work on your part following my suggestions.

You can check to see I they have anything in their privacy settings that allow videos to play. However, if you continue to have issues with Brave, I would suggest using a more common browser that doesn’t give you any surprises. You want to use one that is recognized by the industry so you have a better user experience.

Thanks Glenn for all your support. I have learned something new about my browser... smile

Anyway, I couldn't get around checking the setting yesterday, as I was quite busy, but will do so today. Actually, I write on quite a lot of crypto sites too - like Hive, read.cash and publishOx - where privacy of data and information is of utmost importance. Crypto space is a bit nascent still and prone to hacking from the user (or client) interface. Hence Brave forms a robust partner. That's why I use Brave. Besides, I can earn BAT tokens just for browsing using Brave. That's the background. smile

So, I will see you around. Thanks once again!

I had read about all that with the Brave browser, Savio. Seems interesting. As for getting paid in cryptocurrency, I tested out writing articles on a platform called “Yours” that pays with cryptocurrency. But I’m not active there anymore since it wasn’t worth the effort. I probably just wasn’t writing the subjects that do well there.
