I just discoved about 10% of this has been copied from my Owlcation article. You might like to check whether any of your content is copied.

Did you report it in any way? The other instances are usually people copying and placing it on their websites, this is a direct sale of copied information.

I reported it to Google. On Amazon, I can't see the book unless I buy it, so I can't verify it's the same version with the same copied content. I filed a copyright infringement report, but got an email back to say that the form wasn't completed properly and I have to resubmit because they can't verify that I'm the rights owner. I can't make head or tail of what they mean in the email and I haven't the time to start trying to resubmit again, because it's rather detailed. In the meantime I contacted the plagiarist and he said he would remove content. If this is the case, I can't file a new report if the content has been removed (and I can't check this).

Oh... I guess you can check on Google books using some text in quotes on a google search or the way you originally found it to find out if it was edited out or not.

I've been also been recently rejected by Google on grounds that they can't prove I'm the copyright owner. How on Earth are we suppose to reply? Hope HP can help with this.

What's frustrating is that it's been advertised in several locations too, Google Books, Amazon, Facebook, review sites etc. So I've spent all my morning leaving bad reviews and abuse reports and embarrassing the author.

CYong74, did you provide the link to your original article? It will show the copyright date. I've had to file several DMCA reports. I always start with the site owner, if the information is available in whois.com. I've had success with all but some foreign person that has several bogus sites on the Internet where my entire article about maintaining septic tanks without using chemicals appears. I did go to Google for those and they removed them from search results.

I've never been questioned about ownership when I provide the original link. As long as the copyright is before the date the duplicate is posted, you should be good.

HP has a template you can use for all your copied material. You'll find it when you click on the link from your account as long as the title has the copyright symbol next to it.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Sometimes I get questioned about ownership and they say say they can't ascertain whether I'm the author, so it probably depends on the agent dealing with the complaint. Usually then I send them a snotty reply to the effect that my name is clearly stated in the article and to cop on. I never get further replies and they remove the content

I did all that you suggested. Actually, I DMCA very often and this is the first time I'm rejected.

Feeling is, Google wants to wash its hand clean of these things. So they just reject you with a generic excuse. It's horrible.

BTW, the same strike was processed right away by Bing.

Interesting. Sounds like Google is getting too big for its britches!

They take really long to action on it too, as compared to Bing. It's truly as you said.

You can report on Amazon without complete proof, they have the access to check and generally take copyright claims fairly seriously

This is the author's profile page on Amazon. You may be able to view samples and do a content comparison with you work or if not the books are likely to be available on Google books.
