So I have a garden weed ID guide that gets 1500 views daily. I did a bit of research and the "weed names" combination of keywords was searched for a lot so I used that in the title. Maybe Googlers think my article is a guide to marijuana types and are sadly disappointed when they land on the page, but that's another story. Anyway I have another guide to killing weeds that I link to from the weed name guide, but it only gets 50 views daily. How can I get more readers to follow the link?

Eugene, I think you're probably right about searchers landing on your article thinking it's about marijuana, especially with it becoming legal in the US. Those folks definitely don't want to kill their weed. Perhaps change the title to more clearly reference weeds in the garden/landscape.

I would rephrase that paragraph to something like "Once you have identified that it is a weed, if you want to get rid of it you can find helpful suggestions in my guide to killing weeds "6 Different Ways to Kill Weeds".  In other words, make the link part of your discussion rather than an aside.

If they are landing on that article and thinking it is about weed, then they deserve to be tricked because of their bad English. You have an "s" at the end of your word lol.

Also, you can only get someone to click through if they are actually interested in knowing more about something in particular.

The "s" in the URL was deliberate. I noticed that "weeds names" was getting more traffic than "weed names". So I used that first, then corrected the title when published.

This is what I would do. You can use a link twice. So you can use the link in the main body of the article, then highlight it at the end in a further info section.
