I've had an article on here for the last 8 years and have revised it every three months or so because it brings in more revenue than any other. But I've also had a KDP eBook link in there probably for the last four to five years. I hadn't edited that so for a long time and it has been losing sales, so I rewrote a lot of it, had it professionally formatted and linked the new one to this article.
Within hours it's been removed by the editors. They gave me their guidelines:

    1) You have personally used or have demonstrated firsthand experience with the product and give a genuine, first-person review. (This is really important for products on Network Sites!)
    2) The product is 100% relevant to the content.
    3) A reader would be happy to see the link to the product and would not be confused or feel like they are being sold something solely for the benefit of the writer.
    4) The topic is commercial, e.g., if you googled the keyword of your topic, you will likely see shopping results.

I gave them a qualified yes to each question. The eBook is over 50 pages of tips using my own personal experience.

I'm just a little stunned as to why they've done this. And wonder if anyone else has had this experience recently. After all, each copy sold will generate revenue for Maven, so don't really get it. Plus it is helping the reader. I would have thought Maven would have thought that a good thing as it brings people back to the site.

Good morning mister. Jerry fisher. Some topics are popular because people like to read them. Good for you. Congratulations on your active hub. Have a great day. Yes, I often see some writers saying that they have one good hub.

Hi Jerry. The location and appearance of a product (e.g., at the top of an article and in a capsule rather than as a link) and how it's referenced in the surrounding text (e.g., if it's unclear what the product is and why the reader *needs* it) can have a large impact on whether that product is seen as spammy. Please consider revisiting your article with this in mind.

      Kindly,
      Haley

Self-promotion is not permitted. You were lucky your article flew under the radar for so long.

From the FAQ: "Please note that promotional links are links that you have any interest in promoting (your blog, your Website, affiliate offers, etc.)."
