I’m new to HubPages, and my first hub isn't passing the boot camp. My first article is about book recommendations.

In that article, I added a little background for each author, the topics of the books that will cover and my personal review.

When my hub is being rejected, I always check my grammars, and the infos that I wrote. I always think that there's something missing.

My article isn't that long. 574 is the word count. I think that is one of the problems.

Can my fellow hubbers please help me in order to improve my hubs?

Can you please share some tips for beginners like me?

Kate, welcome to HubPages. I agree with theraggedge, except that the book Rich Dad Poor Dad seems like a worthy study to me.                                       Seriously, to pass the  Boot Camp, you need just to do well with just five articles. As a beginner, let each article be around 1000 words.                                      Here's a more helpful idea. Click help on you feeds. You'll land on Hubpages learning center. You can get all the tools to pass boot camp.

    Hi Kate,

Yes, you are right, the article is too short. For reviews/recommendations of six books, I'd say that 200 words per book would be a minimum. You need more detail... why and how can this book help me change my life? What lesson/s did you learn from it? You have to show the reader you have read every one of them--otherwise, it looks fake.

Please get rid of Rich Dad Poor Dad. It is overhyped and an ultra-predictable inclusion.

There are a few grammatical issues but they are minor. For example, "please comment your thoughts..." should be "please leave a comment" or "please share your thoughts in the comment section". However, as comments don't work properly right now, I'd omit that sentence.

Get your books out and find more to discuss within them smile

    Good luck.

I can't see your article, but follow the guidelines on the tutorial.
Also break your article up with photos about what your article explains.
Maybe include a video about each book or something...a quote from each one.

First, welcome to HubPages. The length of your article is the approximate length of a good professional book review. If you are reviewing multiple books, the article should most definitely be much longer than 574 words. I suggest breaking it up and reviewing each book separately, or maybe including only 2 books in each article. I also write as Grumpy Book Reviewer on HP, but couldn't find this thread when signed in on that account. When reviewing some children's picture books, I combined 2 or 3 into one article. I don't believe I have published those yet, but will do so soon. When you write a review, it is not required that you like the book, but if you don't, be kind, and state why. It's not necessary to try to tell the story, just a good synopsis to draw interest, and say whether the book is well-written, flows smoothly, etc. Good luck here on HP.

The advice is worthy to be noted if I gonna review a book. Thanks,  Maria.
