FAQ Accordion Module

Is there any reason why, in 2021, HubPages doesn't add a FAQ module with schema? In case you don't know what that it, it's a module that formats Q&A, sometimes in a collapsible "accordion" format, that is widely used elsewhere. Additionally, the schema tells Google, in its language, the page contains specific questions and answers.

Also, when did Table of Contents for article disappear? I remember them being here, and they have become very popular elsewhere on the web, as they improve user experience.

Ratay, I'm not familiar with your first question. But I do insert a table of content when I write an article. I also don't know if hubpages has a table of content format.

Q&A is no longer available. Old Q&As remain but no more can be added. Neither are comments working at present (apart from those from Hubbers who follow you and see your articles in their feed).

You can make a table of contents manually. Not sure how to make it clickable.

Edit: don't use two different IDs in the forum. Stick to one.

That was an accident. I had logged in to the other account to share a screenshot of my article that was unpublished.

I don't remember there being a table of contents module per se. We used to be able to implement a TOC by using a text module and adding links with the links pointing to HTML div tags. These aren't used in the code on the new format sites, so it's no longer possible.

HP never had the FAQ schema which was always a pity. I have pitched the idea to them via mail in the past and never got a response. My own site began ranking a lot higher and getting a lot more traffic on every page that I added FAQs to. So this is an opportunity wasted.

HP did try a QnA system which was flawed from the get-go, but they got rid of it. It is just one of the many times where they try something but do it horribly wrong and then think it is a bad idea altogether. If they had done it with the FAQ schema, something I pointed out to them once more when the QnA feature went live, it would have been so much better.

With respect to the TOC, that was never a thing, but it was possible to use the HTML edit feature to make your own. That is frowned upon now or is altogether not possible anymore due to the sections not having IDs anymore. I haven't bothered to look into this.

An editor has just snipped my TOC from one of my articles.

I agree. Even FAQ or "frequently asked questions" comes up for some of my clients.

I'm willing to put money down that there was a table of contents feature way back when. It might even have been when the site was Squidoo. But I remember it, because that's what introduced me to the idea, which is now a standard elsewhere online.

Yes, Squidoo had more modules. Now, there ought to be Table of Contents, FAQ, a module for linking other articles, and more. These are just a few off the top of my head, extremely common in Wordpress, and useful to the reader.

Google SEO these days is all about the user experience. These improve the user experience, which is why these are widely used, except here.

HubPages was never Squidoo. I wrote on both.

HubPages and Squidoo were competitors. When Squidoo went bust, HubPages agreed to port some articles over here. It was generous of them but HP almost followed Squidoo into oblivion as a result when they received a massive Google slap for hosting a lot of subpar content.

And yes, Squidoo had a ToC smile

Yes, they were separate companies. I wrote for both, too.

It's not often that you hear a writer proposing that HP be more like Squidoo! Although the TOC likely had nothing to do with the site's demise, it does sound a bit like copying the design of the Titanic! wink

It's not about copying Squidoo's design. It's employing current web standards. In that area, I suppose Squidoo was ahead of their time.

Yes, Bev, was correct.                                                 I recalled I was introduced to both Hubpages and Squidoo at the same time.                                      But I wrote on Squidoo's Lens first before she received the Google Panda 'slap.' Frankly, I was unable to recalled my email/password to enable me transfer to hubpages. Back then, I don't even realise one can change password. I was a complete novice online.
