Am I reading the stats correctly? Have I missed something? Over night CPM has virtually halved, impressions doubled and earnings slightly raised! Is this a glitch or a fundamental shift in management?
AGREED! I'm glad that I was sitting down when I checked my stats this morning. CPMs have dropped dramatically. I'm confused. Isn't this time of year when we see the best CPMs?
Thanks for bringing this up. I just checked my stats. Impressions are up 35% from this time last month. Earnings are up 28% as well. I'm curious to see if the upwards trend continues.
Yes. I noticed a rise. But, not like last year.
My CPM is low but I have getting impressions higher than I ever have had even when I had higher views.
We’ve added a new ad unit and reconfigured the way we treat impressions in order to boost author earnings. As a result of this new treatment, authors should be seeing lower CPMs, higher impressions, and—hopefully—slightly higher earnings!
OK thank you for the update and details HP. Let's hope things work out for the best.
Bravewarrior - Could you please tell me where on the dashboard CPM stats are found. Thanks.
You can find it here:
Earnings Report
Go to filters then choose ad programs from the drop-down menu and adjust the date.
Hope it will help.
Thank you so much, HP. This is a great news.
Well, I was just thinking to post a forum thread regarding earnings. What I have experienced is something different.
Yesterday, the CPM for me was $20. It happened for the first time in 10 months and I was excited to know, if it is usual or was it ever usual?
From November 1st to now, my impressions have doubled but my CPM's are only consistently a dollar or two under what it was in Oct. It was overnight, but I noticed this shift on November 1st.
I'm still making less than past November's with less impressions, but I am making more than I was the last several months. Not that I'm too surprised about that. The last few months have been pretty dismal for me.
My traffic has finally been climbing and stabalizing to numbers I had a few years ago. Going back another month, I notice October's impressions climbed a little over September, but nothing like the doubling I saw overnight from November 1st. I'm hopeful the traffic will stick around through the holidays.
Something seems wrong? My daily earnings since Nov 1 have all changed, albeit for the better.
Yes, I don't think I've ever seen such a rapid, radical change to the stats. It's as if someone has decided to cut CPM values in half and double the impressions. How does that work?
I did a bit more digging and based off daily views compared to impressions, they are almost identical. That has never been the case before (for me at least).
I cannot image staff would not have noticed a month long glitch, but it is strange that impressions are so much higher and almost equal to page views. Something definitely feels off. I wonder if they changed the formula for how our earnings are calculated. Per the TOS they can do that at any time without notice.
I was just going to post about this. It's odd, maybe just a glitch. As long as 2A x 1/2 B still equals AB, I don't mind. Now if 2A goes back to A, that would be worrying....
When I first looked at stats this morning, my impressions were halved and cpm doubled for yesterday. However now it's showing comparable to the rest of November.
After seeing that I'm wondering if there is some kind of glitch with the earnings page?
I keep a spread sheet of my daily earnings. All of the amounts have changed since November 1. I could understand if I made a mistake in one or two, but all my amounts are more than they were at first. They have gone up so much that I have more pay at this time of the month than I usually have at the end. Perhaps it is an early Thanksgiving present!
How is it possible impressions are higher than page views?
I know the account page has a rolling 24hr view count vs the earning/impressions taken for the exact 24hr day, but even if I look at the 7 day total views, my impressions are much higher for the week. It doesn't make any sense to me.
I'm almost positive yesterday's impressions are too high based on the views I saw on my account. When trying to compare my page views from GA (I assumed this would give me better numbers for the exact days), it is also showing I have less views than the number of impressions on my HP earning page. Although GA is showing slightly more page views for the last 7 days than HP.
Maybe ads are updating faster and shown for less time? More impressions looks better for potential advertisers too I would think and convince them that it's worth staying. Does every ad displayed and that a reader sees count as an impression? If that's the case, how come impressions wasn't a lot greater than page views up until now?
I was wondering about that too. With all the ads, if each one counts as an impression higher impressions could make sense. I was thinking maybe they changed how the earnings/impressions are done. That could explain why the changes didn't start until November.
I know it's a US holiday today so probably will not hear back from the team until next week, but I did email them about it.
Today again my earnings, impressions, & cpms all changed within 30mins of looking at my account. This is the third or fourth time I've noticed this. I know I cannot post screenshots here, but I'm hoping Matt might be able to figure out what is going on. With the stats changing I was worried about which is right and if my whole November earnings could be off.
CPM/impressions seems to have reverted to the way it was (for Sunday).
Aye, CPM just about doubled and impressions roughly halved. An experimental study over the Black Friday period I wonder? I hope they can tweak it again and land us all a Christmas bonus. That'd be handy.

My earnings over the last 5-6 days TANKED, anyone else notice this? What happened there? Will it return to normal?

Hi Paul,I really liked the new look and feel of our Hubpages. I am sure most of our fellow hubbers feel the same way. However, I want to point out an anomaly to you. Till yesterday, my total page views showed a little more than 27000. But after the update my total page views show only around 20000!...

Anyone else have extremely low CPM figures over last 24 hours? Could this be a glitch or is the Russian invasion of Ukraine making global markets wobble? If so we could be in for a rough ride.

Hello everyone, trust your keeping safe. Truly, I have learnt a lot since I joined HP. I have read posts on earnings a lot, and have come to the conclusion that, you need at most 30,000 page views for a $50 pay-out. Translating to 600 page views for a dollar. I've got 300 page views already but I...

Has anyone else noticed that earnings have lowered significantly for the past few days? Any ideas why?

My stats are showing negative views---hopefully, just a glitch?
