Has anyone else noticed that earnings have lowered significantly for the past few days?  Any ideas why?

My earnings have remained steady thus far this month. Actually, I had higher than usual earnings yesterday because one of my articles had a big surge in page views.

However, I have noticed recently that the CPMs have been quite dismal.

I agree with your point about CPMs.  This is the growing season for me so CPMs should be higher than usual rather than lower than usual.

Well, I thought that by this time of year the CPMs would be much higher than they were back in January and February.

I was quite wrong about making that assumption.

      What is CPM?

CPM is an abbreviation for "cost per mille."

Mille, incidentally, is a French word for one thousand.

A CPM is the monetary amount that an advertiser is willing to pay for every 1,000 impressions that an ad receives on a webpage.

An impression is the number of times that an ad is loaded onto a webpage.

Impressions should not be confused with page views. Page views are the number of times that a webpage has been "viewed" by visitors.

Generally, my daily impressions are two to four times more than my daily page views.

Matt once told me in an email that if we turn off the advertising for one of our articles, page views will still be counted, but we will receive "zero" impressions, which means no remuneration.

Hypothetically, if we turn off the advertising for all of our articles, page views will still be counted, but we will receive no earnings.

Edit: If your CPM is $1.61 and you receive 2,470 impressions, you will earn about $3.98.

On the other hand, if your CPM is $9.63 and you have 2,470 impressions, you will earn about $23.79.

All you need to do is to multiply the CPM by the number of impressions to get the amount of earnings.

This is one of the major discussions or threads that keep the forum active and alife.                                      And it's the issue that's sending writers packing or rather away from the site.                                       Low or zero views, low earnings, etcs are very discouraging.                                      Actually, Google updates had a low impact on all these. It's hubpages obnoxious ads and pop-ups on contents that is causing all the problem.
