Well for the last week views on my top articles have halved again. Lost all interest in keeping on editing as it's a losing battle. My guess is that although Google have spelt it out very clearly to publishers that they won't tolerate overdone advertising, that Maven have clearly breached this and we all pay.

The whole new template starting with a massive video on top leading down to yet another ad every second paragraph has stripped all readability out of the article. taking the comments section away (yes, I know it's back - but not really. Only if you can be bothered signing up. If you want to make a random comment otherwise, you can't. Sure random comments can lead to abuse but if they leave it to us the writers to delete those, then it would be fine. Google sees comments as reader connection and values it as such.

Jerry, Hubpages has promise a lot about looking into the ads question. But we've not seen a bit of change.

Hi there Jerry, Just a thought ...I note that your articles cover many subject areas so are your worst hit articles on one niche site or spread over several? If the sudden downturn is hitting a specific subject niche then perhaps there's a logical reason for it, separate to the ads issue?

I agree, Chef. It's a mixed picture for me, regarding views and earnings. Although the trend is generally down, some niches actually improved recently. That suggests that the problems are "local" rather than "universal", so the advertising is probably not be the issue, according to that logic.

Emotionally, though, I share the frustration with the site. This should be the most lucrative time of year for earnings, but it's all been lukewarm recently. Things are up, but way down on what I'd normally expect or hope for in late November.

Thanks Chef - Yes you're right they're spread out but I concentrate more on AxleAddict as this is where my main interests lie. I find my main articles still command good Google ranking and this is what I find odd on the views sliding. You'd think diminishing views would coincide with a diminishing rating but that's not happening.

I agree. Something needs to change. Like Collider, most popular sites that I have visited have videos ads set up and play at the far right bottom corner, so a reader can still concentrate on the article.

For me, it's mostly my articles on Owlcation that have lost lots of traffic. I've lost all of the featured snippets I had too. Is there any evidence to suggest that repeatedly pinning photos from articles on Pinterest is hurting ranking because of the multiple backlinks to the same URL?
