    Greetings fellows!

I have just recently signed up for Amazon affiliate program, and I am actually new to it. I just wanted to know that is it prohibited to add Amazon capsule in your article which is on a niche site? Like I added a book related to Nanga Parbat in my article about Nanga Parbat, in a direct Amazon capsule. Is it ok? or should I not display the book capsule directly and connect with a link? Please guide.

We used to be able to use our own Amazon Affilate links on HP. Now we can still use the Amazon capsule, but we have to use the HubPages Amazon Program. Here is the blog post explaining it. https://blog.hubpages.com/2014/02/12/in … n-program/ You will still earn, but not through your own Amazon affiliation. HP seems to prefer text links to Amazon products rather than the Amazon capsule, but I have many article that still successfully use the capsule.

Thank you very much Sherry, I have checked an article of yours with Amazon capsule, and that's really helpful.

        Blessings to you.. ;-)

If you signed up for the HubPages Amazon Program then you can use Amazon capsules or Amazon links.  HubPages automatically includes your assigned Amazon code so you get your 60% share of the residuals.

However, your article needs to be about the book, Nanga Parbat. Did you read that book? You need to talk specifically about the book in your article.  In other words, your Amazon ad needs to be 100% related to the subject.  Otherwise your Amazon ad will be snipped.

I have a couple of articles with five Amazon capsules which are directly related to the topic, and I discuss the items in detail because I have them. As long as you focus on the item in your content and own it, Amazon ads are acceptable.  And, yes, you can have them on the niche sites.

Thank you so much Glenn, your suggestion is really helpful.

Yes I do have Hubpages Amazon account, and I added a book that's very much related to my article, and also added some description.

And I hope so, that it will not get snipped by the team.. Thanks again.. Blessings on your way.. :-)

Amara, in addition, make sure to include saying something specific that you learned from reading the book. That will show that you actually read it yourself, which is crucial to avoid snipping. Blessings to you too. smile

Can you share the link of that article of yours with five Amazon capsules? That will be very helpful of you, if possible?

Amara, I have two articles with five Amazon capsules each. One is a review of all the TurboTax versions, but the other relates better to your situation because it’s a review of five books, and you are also writing about a book.

It’s generally against the rules to link to our own content, but since you requested it I’m sure it’s acceptable in this case. So, here it is: “5 Books by Benjamin Franklin About Self-Improvement”

You’ll notice that a reader would expect to see the Amazon links as I used them, based on my title. That’s another crucial aspect of using Amazon ads that I didn’t mention earlier. If you just throw in an Amazon ad, it would look spammy. Those are the things that get snipped. Hope that helps. Good luck with your article.

My sense is that articles are also treated differently according to how commercial the subject matter is.

For instance, you can sometimes get away with half a dozen capsules in book reviews. However, try doing that with an article on kitchen appliances and you will almost certainly be snipped.

                  That's what my experience suggests.

That's right, Paul. And that’s a good example. Reviews of specific items, such as kitchen appliances, need to be directly related to that item. I have many reviews of various things, and I only have one Amazon capsule in those reviews for that very reason you mentioned.
