I am confused by Amazon capsule use. The first time I used it, it was deleted and I found out it was because I didn't actually use the item myself. Okay, makes sense.
A couple of days ago I added a capsule to my article because it related to the article and I use the item. I even explained how easy it was to use. Again the capsule was deleted. So a couple of questions.
1) When I used the capsule and linked the item in my article, a little amazon symbol showed up next to the link. Is that because of the capsule?
2) That symbol is still there without the capsule. Does that mean I will still get credit or without the capsule is it impossible? I find it frustrating to keep having it deleted without knowing why.
Yes, you absolutely earn a commission if someone clicks on a text-link of yours to amazon, and then buys something within 24 hours. It doesn't matter if they buy the exact thing you have linked, or if they buy something 200 times more expensive - you will get the commission for the sale.
It's the magic of tracking cookies. Best tasting cookies ever.
The staff here have told me personally they prefer for me to use the text links to amazon, and not the capsules. So I no longer use capsules for amazon at all. Some people do, but the problem with those are that advertising blockers, which can be added to browsers, will block out those capsules. Ad blockers are not able to block out hyper-text links.
Nowhere have I ever seen the 24 hour time limit you mentioned. I have always thought that any items purchased when an individual clicks through on an ad that are purchased during that buying session make money for you. Once they stop shopping that's it...unless they click on the ad again. There is no 24 hour timeline.
Yes there is. If they visit your hub and click through to Amazon, a 24 hour cookie is placed on their browser. If they revisit Amazon within the 24 hours and purchase, you will receive the commission.
If they clear their cookies, you've lost it
If they put an item in their shopping basket and leave it there to purchase later, the commission is good for 90 days *on that item*.
There are two ways to link to the Amazon product and you only need to use one of them. If the capsule was deleted it was probably because it was redundant. If you prefer to use the capsule, delete the Amazon link. At least that my best estimate of what the issue might be.
So do I still hit the Amazon capsule loader when I write in order to get credit and then add the link or can I just link and it will automatically add it?
You can just use the link and select the Amazon option--no capsule required.
You can also add the link in yourself. In other words, you can find the product on Amazon and then copy and paste the link into the text in the text edit mode by highlighting text and hitting the chain icon.
You do not have to use an amazon capsule at all. When you see that big A next to the text-link, you know you're all set.
Yeah. I learned about the 24 hour cookie around 8 years ago. I don't recall who brought that bit of information to my attention, but I do recall it was someone who's knowledge on such a subject couldn't be questioned by a mere mortal such as myself.
That was a long time ago. I wouldn't know how to find out about any changes in that situation.

I am almost ready to publish a new article, and I want to add two Amazon Capsules. I know how to do it the old way. But I saw on lobobrandon and a few other's hubs a different way. There is just an orange "A" and what looks like a hyperlink, and when clicked, it takes the reader right to...

The nice thing about the new Amazon capsule is that it displays the description text in the same size as the rest of the hub. This can be beneficial and may turn into better sales. So I reorganized one of my hubs, moving much of my text from text capsules into the Amazon description fields. This...

I've started writing more articles here after not being so active for a year or so. One of the reasons I was discouraged from putting time into HubPages was the removal of Amazon capsules. This had a hugely detrimental effect on my earnings, which plummeted around 80% since they were systematically...

Where is the best place for amazon capsules to get more buyer and money? Under text or beside text or else?
by Nathan Bernardo 5 years ago
Not really, because I have a job. But I did have my Amazon capsule snipped from one of my articles on another account from an article which was the only one from which I've ever really made any money from Amazon. If I was super paranoid, I'd think it was intentional that they'd snip the one article...
