My top traffic guide on Owlcation shows a date in SERPS of 2020 on Google and 2016 on Bing. I'm not sure whether this was the last it was crawled, or the date refers to something else. I've updated/edited it at least every year.
Hi Eugene,
I hope you're doing great. I think the discrepancy related to Bing search has been clearly explained by Mr. Glenn and from the Google search results, I would like you to look at the search results displayed on my device (see screenshot). Everything is fine there, your article seems to have been edited three days ago. You should also try looking for your keywords on another device and check if the issue is still persistent.
Eugene, No need to worry. That's the date you published it. Bing takes it from the meta tag in the HTML, and I think Google gets confused with the modification dates changing. But you can be sure they both crawl it every so often.
I looked at the HTML of your article and these are the records I saw:
<meta name="published" content="2016-02-16T13:57:55Z">
<meta name="modified" content="2022-01-11T16:16:03Z">
Ok, Sometimes though I think they show the updated date in SERPS.
Yes, I noticed that. It’s never consistent in the SERPs. One of the reasons for that, I think, is because HubPages has been experimenting with changing the method of showing the dates. On some niche sites they show both the publish date and the update date on top. I actually like that information being presented to the reader.

Or do they come and crawl? I notice my triangle tutorial has a 2016 date on it in their SERPS, even though it's been updated maybe 50 times since then. It's not a big deal because Bing traffic is such a small fraction of that from Google, but I'm just curious.

They get indexed in Google automatically, but I can't get them into Yahoo and Bing!!

Today I noticed that some of the niche sites are not always showing the updated dates in the SERPS. I've seen this specifically with Spinditty, Exemplore and Pethelpful. Instead it is showing a much earlier date, and not necessarily even the publication date. If fact, at least one of my Hubs is...

My best hub for traffic has had near a 50% daily drop in views since the new layout went into effect. It is not at the most relevant time, but traffic had been rising. The date is obviously hurting this hub as people now believe this to be an old out dated hub for 2012, when the hub is all about...

Since the Google changes the number of different search engines listed on my stats has increased, even though the overall visits are still down on what they were.Maybe the complaints I have read here about the problems of searching for topics on the new style Google's results are making people use...
