Did HP change how/where the copyright appears again? A few months ago it was sandwiched between comments & Q&A, but now it looks like it is completely gone. Is it only visible if we actually use the copyright box on the edit page?
Our name at the bottom provided by HP no longer has a date next to it and given the top date is generally not the original date this is a nightmare given how often content is stolen.
I understand that our content by design is copyrighted, but it is impossible to file a DMCA and get the infringing content taken down without having that symbol or an accurate earlier date than the copied material.
If that box is the only way to have to a copyright, this is going to be a time consuming process checking that all my articles have that little box checked. Not to mention how many articles are going to be unnecessarily triggered as "updated" for staff.
I checked a couple of your articles in which I think you chose the box at the end to display your copyright because the copyright sign and the date are visible. I think we have to use the box to demonstrate that we wrote the article.
What worries me is the date at the top of the article. I really think it should say something like "Last updated December 4th, 2021." At the moment, only the date is shown. It looks like the date on which we published the article. I know we can tell people to look at the end of the article to see when we wrote it, but I'd like the situation to be as clear as possible. I'd also like to see the actual date of publication displayed in the copyright box instead of just the year.
On Delishably they were playing around with two dates updated and original (I did not like that format as it looked too cluttered), but I noticed that was gone as well and it only shows a date. It would be nice if they at least kept the last updated part so people know that's not necessarily when it was written.
I believe the author view shows if the copyright box is checked so I will go that route to avoid triggering every article, but it's definitely annoying to have to double check every article. I'm pretty sure I marked them all, but I don't want to assume I did until I find a copyright issue.
I've had problems with FB and other sites claiming my article was newer in the past and that I didn't have authority to file a DMCA. Took forever to find the old copyright location to send pictures and get the other content taken down. At least this will show at the end of every article once I can make sure they are all checked, which will be easier to find if/when I need it.
I agree. The date at the top of the article, next to our name should indicate it was updated on that date. If no update, show the copyright symbol and the date posted. With all the gobbledy-gook between the title and the end of the article, some may be hard-pressed to search for the actual copyright date.
I'm going to take a look at any one of my article for studying. At times I've forget to mark the copyright date when I hit the publish button. But all the same, I later insert the copy right when editing stuff.
Like the others, I wouldn't check your article. I've not that make-up.

Just a reminder to update the copyright notice on your Hubs to the year 2012. If you don't have a notice on your Hubs, consider adding one. There have been many forum posts recently about plagiarism of Hubs. Although your work is protected without this notice, I feel it is...

Do you include a copyright notice in your articles? Why or why not?I never do this, but I see that a lot of folks on here do. Just wondering what the opinions are out there.

I've been going through and radically updating lots of old hubs lately. I've found that several of them have been here for a long time with "no notice" on them. I know I'm still protected by copyright law even without that notice, but wouldn't it just make more sense for the...

After more than a year without publishing any hubs, I've decide to start publishing again. First two items on the agenda involved finishing an unpublished hub and responding to comments. Then I decided to investigate whether any of my hubs have been plagiarized and copied elsewhere during my...

When I update or revise older hubs, the HP standardized copyright notice does not change to the current year, so I remove that notice to update with my own current year notice at the bottom of my hub, using the correct format. Then I get the notice that HP prefers their own notice, which is...

Since there has been a number of cases of stolen HP content, and the upcoming feature, I was thinking that instead of all hubbers creating a Copyright notice, maybe HubPages could create an automatic message that shows somewhere on each hub.And for those that would rather create their own message...
