This is really good, an unexpected eye-opener about how setting goals doesn't always work for authors. Thanks for sharing, Peggy. I've been reading a lot of Heidi's work and getting great advice from her since becoming a self-published author.

Heidi has shared great advice for writers, as always. I love the last line in the article. I think the idea that Heidi has shared is important to remember. Goals are good, but when it's obvious that they need to be modified, they should be.

Hi Linda! I think so many people get stuck on achieving things that no longer matter. I've seen that in my own life. Now I can easily walk away without feeling that I've failed. I've just reevaluated. Thanks so much for reading and commenting! Have a great weekend!

Peggy, you are so kind to share! Thank you. BTW, I loved the Christmas cookie cookbook article you recently posted. Blast from the past! I remember when a lot of companies did cookbooks as promos. Anyway, hope all is good with you. Have a great weekend!

Thank you for posting this, Peggy. I always find Heidi's articles helpful and interesting. She explains the S.M.A.R.T acronym well. I can see a good use for it in my projects.

Great information Heidi.  I am pretty much a goal oriented person so this was very helpful.   As you talked about in the article, revisiting and reevaluating goals I think is very important because we change, life changes, and sometimes things are just out of our control.  For me, as I’ve gotten older lots of goals have changed and I am okay with that.

Bill, I think as we age, we gain better perspective on what's possible and best for us. When we're younger, it's easy to think we can overcome anything. Glad you found this helpful. Thanks so much for chiming in and have a great weekend!
