By the time I get near the end of an article with a lot of photos, I have to wait about 10 seconds for photos to load into the white placeholders. I wonder does it take longer for articles with more photos? This is when using a phone. Photos load fast on laptop.

I never use my phone to read anything online. I know many users do, but I basically use my phone for talking, texting, and taking photos. Photos I want to keep, I upload to my computer - it has much more data space than my iPhone.

That said, I just checked an article I have on Dengarden that has many photos, and they loaded instantaneously from my laptop. Windows 11 is the version I have on my laptop.

Ads can take a minute to appear. Most are probably never seen. This was interesting reading.

It depends on the country's Internet speed. Ireland has 24-100 Mbps while my country has 4.5 Mbps  sad

It's 100 Mbs for copper wire from house to a street cabinet then fibre to the exchange, but we can have 1000Mbs if fibre is fed straight to the house. I don't want that because older non-VOIP analog phones and extension sockets can no longer be used. It might be just my smartphone is slow, but it's only 5 years old. Ads load fast on laptop. Anyway, apart from ads, you're right that speed is a problem if an article has a lot of photos which is why they should be compressed before uploading. The pixel dimension can be preserved even though an image is compressed (maybe squashing it down by a factor of 6)

Edit: Just checked and there are lots of online compressors if someone doesn't have image manipulation software (Not sure what Windows applications can do this?)

This seems to be a good, simple online compression website. Up to 20 files can be loaded at a time and there's a swipe control to show the comparison between original and compressed images.

Eugene, I just opened your recent article on my iPad and noticed that there are no ads in the body of text but just at the end. I'm not sure whether this is the same for everyone, but the ads at the end of the article loads quickly. For me, it’s all working fine ads and the images.

Maybe ads aren't displayed on Discover? I don't see any either, although I can see them on Dengarden.

You are right. I can also see them on Dengarden but not on Discover smile

When I view it on my mobile, the results are the same. The images are also loading quickly on both of my devices. I'm guessing there's a problem with your network. But for me, everything is going swimmingly. smile
